So This Is Where Pinterest Dreams Go To Die

Crafting has never been the same since Pinterest came along. On one hand, it's brought out a creative side that some of us never even knew we had. For others, it's acted as an ego-crushing conduit of one-time DIY dreams.

So where do all those never-to-be-duplicated Pinterest projects go to die? We got a clue when blogger Heather Mann's new book, CraftFail, came across our desk.

"Pinterest has been great for craft fails because so many people have been inspired to try crafting, sometimes without even reading the directions for a craft! Looking at a picture then trying to make something is a sure recipe for craft disaster," Mann told The Huffington Post, offering her best reasoning for the rise in Internet-bred disappointment.

But failure isn't all bad when it comes to crafting, Mann adds. "Failure is part of the learning process! If failing bothers you, just reframe it in your mind, and call it a "prototype" instead."

Behold, 5 "prototypes" for great crafts and the real greatness they one day hope to be.
