Bohemian Beach Wedding Ideas - Polka Dot Bride

This stunning shoot full of bohemian beach wedding ideas will probably make you lose your breath, because it sure had that effect on me! Dreamy gowns, florals that cascade and spill out of their vessels, a table setting filled with wood tones and sparkling brass and gold. The story? A bride and groom elope at the beach, saying their vows under a simple wooden structure, before dinner comes - a setting for two. As the sun sets they head to "honeymoon huddle" and revel in the moment, together.

Stylist teamed up with photographer Oy Photography, florist Floretta by Grace, cake designer Miss Ladybird Cakes, calligrapher Miss Envylope, makeup artist Nicole Aquilina of Varhairdo and hairstylist Sinead Comelli of Varhairdo to create a shoot to inspired a beautiful bohemian beach side elopement.

Coordinated by stylist Stacey of the team of Melbourne wedding vendors took to a deserted beach to bring to life their vision. Stacey tells, "When thinking of a location for this shoot, I really wanted to showcase some of the beautiful regions we are so fortunate to have in our gorgeous Country Victoria. It was extremely exciting knowing that we would shoot at Koonya Beach as it is such a special place; the landscape is stunning with many rock formations to shelter in which provided a level of intimacy that was just so lovely to work with. Shooting in such a beautiful natural environment was so inspiring in itself and a privilege so it was important to me that the creative direction for this shoot be in harmony with the location and be equally as beautiful. Drawing inspiration from the rawness of the environment and depth of colour in the rock formations, gorgeous gold and brass highlights were chosen to compliment simple and uncomplicated neutral elements and became the colour palette for the shoot."

The Bridal Atelier sourced two stunning gowns for the "bride". Stacey noting, "The Bridal Atelier in Armadale, Melbourne has a stunning range of internationally sourced bridal gowns so I felt quite blessed to have them on the team where they supplied and styled two truly unique and beautiful gowns. Each gown was chosen for their beautiful uncomplicated silhouettes which ultimately allowed each of their stunning textures to be the feature. With full length intricate beading, the Toni gown by Theia was kept simple and paired with a latte cathedral length veil and gave the shoot the 'luxe' feel that we were after. Our model, Naomi, was a vision and had the entire team in awe as we kicked off the shoot."

Floretta by Grace created the floral arrangements, inspired by the shoot location. Stacey explains, "At the water's edge of Koonya Beach are some pretty special low rock formations with the most vivid of green moss, almost framing our shoot. Truly stunning! Then again all around us were gorgeous rock formations weathered over many years and steep hills behind us with local grasses all with amazing green or gold tones.

Drawing inspiration from this remote location, Grace created stunning organic florals that subtly echoed the beautiful colours we were surrounded by. The simple duo tone colour palette of creams & moss green were perfectly offset by the whimsical, loose and slightly wild style of the arrangements. The arrangements were made up of silvery Gum leaves, luscious white double Ranunculus and heavenly cream garden roses framed by loose cascading jasmine and fine fern vines."

The second gown for the model, from The Bridal Atelier was more relaxed but just as stunning, Stacey telling, "For a more relaxed look as the couple moved on to their celebration just for two, we decided on the simple but stunning Sienna by Rue de Seine. Sienna is a full length gown with a high neck and long sleeves in a beautiful embroidered cotton nylon mesh and was styled with a pretty headpiece from Lovisa. With a slightly fuller skirt, Sienna draped beautifully along the sand as Naomi and Gus posed in the stunning peacock chair."

"I was really pleased to have the opportunity to feature some of our pieces from Miss Mooi's bespoke furniture and prop hire range. Each piece was hand selected for their timeless appeal and simple form bringing the right amount of character without being in conflict with the environment. The simple table for two paired with rustic early Australian cottage chairs was the perfect size for an intimate celebration overlooking the soft waves rolling into shore a short distance away. Sheltered in a gorgeous rock formation, the table was dressed sparingly with special pieces such as a small animal skull and tapered Crystal candle holders from Manyara Home juxtaposing perfectly into a gorgeous boho luxe feel."

Stacey briefed the hair and makeup artists to create a relaxed, bohemian style for the bride, noting " Nicole Aquilina of Varhairdo and Sinead Comelli of Varhairdo created a truly stunning look for model Naomi. Makeup was kept fairly natural with a luminous and ethereal feel with touches of gold. To match the glamorous Toni gown, Naomi's gorgeous hair was left flowing with soft textured curls for a long luscious look. A more relaxed but equally beautiful side braid was chosen for the ethereal Sienna gown."

A three tier wedding cake in white was created by Miss Ladybird Cakes. Stylist Stacey notes, "The cake designed and supplied by Gina, the owner of Miss Ladybird Cakes and was designed to be simple but elegant yet still reflecting the rawness of the environment with the subtle textured icing in the centre tier. Lovely large sugar peony roses were added to mirror the lovely full roses Grace used in the florals."

Photographer acted as the groom wearing a dapper dinner suit.

Stacey notes, "Jokingly referred to by the team, the honeymoon huddle was created for the couple to appreciate each other and just relish in the moment. A cowhide rug (stylist's own) layered over the amazing traditional Turkish Kilim rug from Patchy Rugs was the perfect cosy spot to enjoy a platter of local wine and produce."

Miss Envylope created the stationery for the shoot, using gold ink on hand made paper. Stacey remarks ,"When I approached Sharon Chen of Miss Envylope, my brief was that the hand calligraphy be organic and loose and in gorgeous gold ink. I truly appreciated the reply - "I am just a girl with a calligraphy pen in hand, non-traditional and I just love to play with different styles" and I immediately knew I had the right artist for the shoot.

Sharon mixes her own ink and sourced beautiful hand-made paper for her elegant penmanship and supplied us with hand written stationery for the shoot. We also added the lovely quote 'You are my Greatest Adventure Sail Away with Me' which suited the location and style of the shoot so well."
