Classic & Elegant City Chic London Wedding

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are raring to go this week.

I am here this morning with Dominique and Wesley's city chic London wedding which was held on the 27 April 2013. A classic and elegant affair filled with fragrant roses, simple décor and gorgeous style.

Dominique made the most beautiful bride with a Provonias gown, Jenny Packham hair piece and Christian Louboutin heels while Wesley wore a formal dashing French Connection suit and red bow tie. Oh such a lovely day,

Thanks so so much to the utterly brilliant Depict Photography for sharing their photographs with us today.

THE PROPOSAL | Was a promise of home cooked food by Wes on a seemingly ordinary Saturday evening. However upon arrival, Wesley's apartment was filled with candles, Stevie Wonder music and to my amazement a proposal. A michelin star dinner followed at Pied a Terre on Charlotte Street, which was a stone, throw away from our first date!

THE VISION | Was a nod to London classic elegance, surrounded by a few of our loved ones.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | was pretty seamless. From the outset we 'brain-stormed' the most important aspects of the experience set a realistic budget and focused on achieving our goals. It was a great way to set expectations from the start and pretty clear that location and venues of church and reception were the most important factors in sharing a special day with our nearest and dearest.

THE VENUE | Our aim was to take in some of the sights of London that are meaningful to us from the spectacular atrium of the Landmark Hotel to St Augustine's Church on Queensgate; From a quiet mews in Knightsbridge to a garden near Little Venice.

To call out a couple, the church venue was special as it is through a church small group in the City that we both met back in March 2011. The Landmark hotel was an amazing choice of venue; close to where we live which made planning a dream. The service was impeccable: food, hotel rooms and our wedding coordinators Regina Lai and Greta Outes really went out of their way to meet our needs. Walking into the hotel after the church into the stunning Winter Garden was definitely a 'princess' style moment I will never forget!

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Provonias, Jenny Packham headpiece and earrings, Christian Louboutin pumps, hair Junior Green, make-up by the bride.

FINDING THE DRESS | I took a week off to help find my dress. It was a bit of a 'mare to get something I liked that was in by budget after falling in love with a Jenny Packham number. Eventually I stumbled across a Provonias dress in 'The Wedding Dress Shop' in Wimbledon, which ticked the boxes, and an amount I was comfortable parting with.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | French Connection from Moss Bross, and Thomas Pink Bow Tie, Paul Smith Shoes.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | The church interior is quite grand and traditional so we opted for organ music for the entrance, which was fantastic. Music is very important in our community and we wanted something that reflected us well so we had the Get Gospel group come and minister some of our favourite Gospel songs and we walked out of the church to 'Your Love Keeps Lifting me Higher' in dance which was fun!

Again music at our reception, we love Jazz and hired a Jazz duo to play whilst we were all having our candlelight dinner, the hotel had a grand piano so it was just amazing. We had musical renditions on the night by Rebekah who sang Etta James 'At Last' and my little sister Imani who opted for a Whitney number.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Were my Sister, my sister in law Rebekah and one of my best friends Josefin who is Swedish and based in Stockholm. The bridesmaids outfits were from Coast, which made it, much easier as none of them are based in London so was great that they could order online.

THE FLOWERS | Were beautiful scented roses by The Real Flower Company. We walked past the Selfridges concession and loved the roses and visited their Hampshire HQ for a consultation and opted for the Chelsea Flower Show '12 scheme. We also imported the vases from a US florist website which was a fraction of the cost of comparable centrepieces.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHERS | We had checked out a few Wedding Blogs and loved the look of film photography so we wanted to have our wedding captured by a film photographer. We came across Depict on Rock My Wedding and they were a lovely couple based in the Midlands where I am originally from. They were really easy to deal on the day and we also had a complimentary engagement shoot, which was great practice.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Vintage Austin 1948 Taxi from City of London Black Taxis,

THE HONEYMOON | Plan was a trip around Italy, however last minute we opted for a more relaxed affair in Seychelles with a stop over in Dubai which was amazing!

Wes loves to climb and mountaineer in his free time and I'm a bit of an adventure seeker when it comes to holidays, but after planning a wedding a lazy paradise break should be prescribed!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Set your expectations of the day and the most important aspects for from day 1 and focus your resources to making those aspects the best that you can. Don't sweat the small details or things that may not go to plan, none of your guests will notice so why let it worry you on your special day!
