1. Talk to your stationer or designer

Whether you are going paperless and doing e-invites or going the whole nine yards with stationery, this is a good time to get chatting to whomever you have decided on. This is the perfect time for them to send you a mood board so that you can get a feel for what the overall design will look like. Your invite design usually takes its lead from the Save the Date, so once you've got this right the rest is a breeze.

2. Send Save the Dates

Save the Dates can be sent out when you wish, but 6 months before the wedding date is a good benchmark. This gives out of town guests enough time to plan and all your nearest and dearest can slot this date into their diaries. This is such an exciting part of the planning process, as the minute you issue a formal notification of your wedding day most brides feel like it becomes 'real'. Enjoy this moment.

3. Start preparing the wedding website

If you are going the route of having a wedding website, you can slowly start putting this together. Think about what information you'd like to include here and start gathering it by making a site plan. This way when the time comes to send out your official invitations (3 months before) your website will be complete and you won't have to worry about getting things together at the last minutes.

4. Plan the honeymoon

This is one for the groom! This is a good time for your hubby to be to start getting the travel arrangements together for your honeymoon. If you are planning it together the same applies, start gathering ideas and make some reservations so that everything is sorted come wedding day.

5. Bridesmaid dresses

Whether you're purchasing or having bridesmaid dresses made, start thinking about this now. If you are buying and don't find anything you like immediately then you have enough time to keep looking without feeling pressurized into buying for the sake of buying because you are running out of time.

6. Book your florist

Some brides reserve the florist earlier than 7 months as these vendors get booked far in advance too. However if you haven't done this yet don't stress, but now is a good time to book your florist. Flowers are such a beautiful addition to any wedding, and add stunning detail to your tables. Chat to your florist about what the overall colour theme/design is for your wedding and he/she will be able to guide you as to what flowers will be available during the month you are to be wed. Your florist will also set up a table mock where you will be able to see exactly what the table setting will look like. This is such a fun part of planning as you will begin to see it all coming together. Enjoy!

7. Reserve structural and electrical necessities

If you are thinking of having any extra lighting, gazebo's, furniture etc at your ceremony or reception, now is the time to reserve these suppliers. Think about what you'd like to bring to the venue and also make sure the suppliers are aware of the pick up times stipulated by the venue for the following day to avoid any additional fees.

8. Arrange transportation if needed

If you are hiring any form of transportation for guests to and from the wedding venue now is the time to reserve it. Similarly, if you'd like a vintage or specific car to transport you to the ceremony or for pictures, investigate and reserve this now.

Once you've ticked off the above you're a for away for the next 2 months! In 2 weeks time we'll be discussing what to do 5-4 months before the big day - getting closer now! Happy planning.
