Harry & Jonny

Harry & Jonny

Harry & Jonny mixed tradition and boho chic together effortlessly, with gorgeous metallics, glitter, green and ivory florals and succulents. Harry's customised Claire Pettibone dress and Jenny Packham headband are simple show stopping... And Jonny and the groomsmen nearly stole the show by skateboarding to the church. Nice touch boys.

Harry The Bride: We were trying to capture the old english tradition with a boho essence. We are yoga loving surfers that also appreciate the finer things in life. We hoped for our day to reflect our personalities and capture the somewhat conflicting elements of our tastes. Our venue was a tipi in the garden of Harry's first school, only a stones throw from where we live - A historical building surrounded by ethereal walled gardens set in the grounds of Lichfield Cathederal. The tipi set next to the grandeur of the building was another important element in pulling together the rustic glam feel.

Colour Scheme

We didn't have a theme or colour scheme as such but an eclectic mix of neutral colours and metals. Home made shimmering silver and champagne silk table cloths were the main impact. Hydrangeas, roses and succulents in mercury glass arranged uniquely on each table formed our centre pieces, Moroccan lanterns entwined in twigs and amaranths hung from the beams of the Tipi. We found ourselves throwing around the words "we didn't want it to look contrived" regularly. Amy and Amanda at Ava event styling brought our vision to life and it exceeded our expectations.
The Wedding Party Fashion (bridesmaids, flower girls, page boys & groomsmen)- The bridesmaids chose the style of their dresses, they are Harry's girls and them feeling comfortable was of the up most importance to her. Dessy was amazing for this as they could have any dress in the same colour, material and length.

Memorable Moments

Jonny and the grooms party all Skate boarded to the church. A fitting and inexpensive mode of transport, not to mention a great photo opportunity. We had Laura our bridesmaid and Chris an usher and Jonny's brother singing during the ceremony which gave a personal touch that we will cherish forever. The Vintage photo booth entertained our guests for hours and made a beautiful guest book. The photos were a great catalyst in encouraging our guests to put pen to paper.- http://www.vintagebooth.me, photo example attached

Food & Drink

Simon Smith is a genius, anyone who describes food as sexy definitely has passion. His passion was what immediately drew us to him. His canapés included mozzarella and tomato served on a pipet filled with a balsamic dressing, it was all about theatrical food experience and a great conversation starter. He constructed the most beautiful cake of cheese wheels which was devoured by our guests during the evening banquet. This was not only delicious but cost effective as cheese always hits the spot after a few drinks.

We had a cocktail hour after the wedding breakfast and served a custom made "Mr" and "Mrs" option, this was so popular that they were being requested all night. The bar men were so good looking which was an added bonus!! (http://www.thebespokebartender.co.uk)

The Photographer

This was one of our hardest decisions as Harry studied photography at university. Jo Hastings was chosen for her beautiful images but more importantly she "got" us, she understood we wanted something different and she delivered.

Jonny is from a media background so A LOT of his time was put into the researching Videographers. Russell of Spencer Pearce Films stood out to us as each video he created was unique. Unlike many we saw he seemed to capture the day and edit from it rather than having a set way of doing stuff. And boy did he blow our minds with our video, both our mothers cried for days.

Silent Disco

We knew we wouldn't be ready to call it a day at midnight, a curfew set by the venue. We wanted this day to last for ever. Luckily we are right in the heart of Lichfield so we hired a bar and put on a silent disco ( http://www.discomaniauk.com/silentdisco.php ). This was the point of the day that we truly got to let our hair down and hit the dance floor hard. The headphones were great and a real hit with our guests.

Words Of Advice

The suppliers we chose were fundamental and the back bone of our day. Every single person we worked with was a dream. If we could pass on any advice it would be... It is one of the most important days of your life, follow your gut and only employ people/suppliers you mesh with, if they get you and your vision you'll get your perfect day.

Most importantly the magic in our wedding was Julie Dawson of The wedding Genie. Nicknamed "Fronk" (father of the bride reference) . Words can not describe how flawless she made everything seem, from budget allocation to the last drink that was poured she made everything come together and the whole process was a pleasure. She has a remarkable ability to make you feel like you are her only client combined with the perfect balance of professionalism and fairy god-motherliness. We now have a small fronk shaped hole in a hearts, sadly she declined on becoming our life coach.
