HOW THEY MET

"John and I met through an online roommate finder. I was moving cities for work and was hoping to find a roommate so I could save some money to spend the next summer traveling through South East Asia. John's last roommate had just moved out- the timing was perfect. I moved in and we discovered we had so much in common; we shared the same views and loved spending time together. Over time we grew closer and the rest is history!

POPPING THE QUESTION

John and I had known for quite some time that we had both found the right person, so talk about getting married wasn't anything new. John was having my engagement ring custom made thorough a local jeweller so from time to time he would ask me questions like "what do you think about colour?" or "what do you think about this style?" so I knew when it was in the works. (John also can't keep a secret- and I am definitely not complaining!) I had been planning a vacation for some time now to the Okanagan Valley surrounded by mountains with stunning views and wineries in abundance- a perfect setting for a proposal- and we had just sort of settled on that being the time and place so he aimed to have the ring made in time for the trip. The morning before we were set to leave for our trip, the ring was finally ready. I was under the impression that the ring hadn't made it back in time so the proposal would have to wait. John was SO anxious to pick it up and had no idea how he was going to keep it a secret that he actually had it. As soon as he got the call that the ring was ready he rushed over to the jewellers to pick it up and in true John fashion (without even opening the box) he ran over to my office and surprised me at work! It was so sweet and he had unexpectedly found a way to truly surprise me.

THE ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SESSION

Earlier in the year we had planned a trip to Barcelona. We both love traveling and have fond memories of trips we've taken, and now that we're having our wedding abroad we thought it would be more than fitting to have our engagement session in Barcelona. It took a fair amount of planning as well as acceptance of the unknown (this was our first time in Barcelona) but my makeup artist and hair stylist, Nikoleta and Gianluca from Teresa Snowball & Co did a fantastic job, and Gabby from En Route Photography was incredible and made our day super enjoyable. I actually think John enjoyed it more than I did! We could not be happier with the results.

WEDDING PLANS

John was born in South Yorkshire where all of his extended family still lives. I loved the idea of having our wedding in the Yorkshire area and after many family members and friends told us that they would also love to come to England (some had even started saving for the trip before we were engaged!) it has slowly started to become a reality."
