We love hearing from our panel of beauty pros about the latest and greatest beauty tricks. Today, we're lucky enough to hear from makeup pro Rachel Halsey, who sounds off on which concealer matches your skin issue.

Why do those dreaded blemishes and under-eye circles always seem to make an appearance right when you're about to head out for a special occasion/event? These pesky skin issues are a part of life and nothing you should worry your pretty head over, especially since there are so many options available to cover up everything from blemishes and scars, to birthmarks and dark under-eye circles, to redness and rosacea. A bulletproof concealer is one of the most important items to stock in your cosmetic artillery!

Acne

I love a dual-purpose product and many concealers contain medicated formulas to treat the area while covering up the offending spot. Products like Murad Conceal and Treat offer spot-on coverage while treating and calming the blemish with special ingredients.

The color base of concealers formulated specifically for blemishes is yellow or green, as the hues will the reddish color of the blemish. Use yellow on older, darker spots that have a purple tone and green on any redness or irritation.

You can also opt for a blemish concealer that matches the color of your fave foundation. Personally, I love the ease of a crayon or pencil like L'Oreal Paris True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer, which offers customizable coverage for blemishes of all sizes. The innovative formula provides sheer to full coverage that blends easily and won't look cakey.

Rosacea and Redness

The redness caused by rosacea can be very frustrating for women dreaming of a clear, flawless face. A green-based concealer can work well to help neutralize facial redness. Mineral coverage (such as L'Oreal Paris True Match Naturale Gentle Mineral Concealer) may also be successful for rosacea, since it caters to irritable. Try opting for other concealers designed for sensitive skin, such as DermaBlend Smooth Indulgence Redness Concealer. This green- tinted concealer cancels out redness and blotchiness.

Dark Circles

Some dark circles are hereditary, while others are caused by stress, or lack of sleep. Under-eye circles need an emollient or cream-based concealer to prevent caking or accentuating the fine lines. Choose a color that is a little lighter (about two shades) than your regular foundation. Salmon-colored concealer also helps cancel out blue and purple tones under the eyes. To apply, gently dot the concealer under the eyes using the ring finger. Blend it in by lightly tapping and rubbing the area, being careful not to tug or pull on the skin. Try a concealer like Maybelline Face Studio Master Conceal -- I love how it covers blemishes, as well as under-eye circles, flawlessly!

Application

When using a green or yellow concealer for acne or blemishes, apply the product before foundation, using a clean brush, sponge or the tip of your finger. Remember, use just enough to hide the offending mark. When using a skin-toned product, apply it to the blemish after foundation, then set the area with powder.
