Pink Hearts Flowers & Romance Wedding in Texas

Pink Hearts Flowers & Romance Wedding in Texas

Happy Valentine's Day :-)

It's the most romantic and loved up day of the year, so of course I had to share a special wedding with you today.

Rachel and Dayton had the prettiest pink wedding. With hearts, lush fresh blooms and a lot of love. There outdoor sun lit ceremony looked incredible and I just love the sparkler end to the day. Rachel has some lovely words of advice too, which are well worth a read.

Thanks so much to Caroline + Ben Photography for sharing these lovely images today.

HOW YOU MET | We worked at a summer camp called LLYC together a few years ago. The camp is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country near a small town called Leakey. We were reunited there 2 years after we met, when we were both directors and that's when we first started falling in love. It sounds so cheesy, but half way through the summer I confessed to my best friend that I had a crush on Dayton and I was completely lovesick after that.

THE VISION | I really just wanted it to be beautiful and to reflect things I liked. I love those soft colors and wanted the wedding to be like a big end-of-summer get together. So we had popsicles and watermelon slices and frozen margaritas! Those three things scream summer to me. I wanted my guests to be happy and I wanted the wedding to be as "us" as we could without it being too weird :)

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress was from David's Bridal. It was a silk shantung full length gown, with an empire waist and pleated sweetheart bodice, and a cathedral length veil trimmed with European lace. Shoes were white crocheted Toms.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | The veil, jewelry, groomsmen ties, stamps for the escort cards, garter, cake stands, necklace for me and my mom, and bridesmaid jewelry were all Etsy finds. I made the escort cards with watercolor paints and I made the table numbers.

THE HONEYMOON | Regency La Toc, Sandals resort in St. Lucia.

THE MUSIC | We had 3 of our friends playing music for us. We wanted to have people involved who really knew us intimately and it was special having them share their musical gifts with us and everyone who came.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Dayton and I both agree that the best part was finally getting to see each other. All day long I wondered what Dayton was doing and how he was feeling, so when I finally got to see him and hold his hand it was just a relief. Being close to him and knowing that it was all fun from there was the best!

We did not see each other beforehand. In fact, we were very against it. We both believe that marriage is something you wait for. Even once you found the person you want to marry, there's more waiting. We waited to live together until we were married and waited to sleep together also. It was hard and there were many times we didn't want to wait anymore. On the day of, we didn't talk to each other at all aside from a good morning text. When I finally came down the aisle and we made eye contact and Dayton got to see me in my pure white dress, we both knew that from this moment on there would be no more waiting. I was his and he was mine, and that was a powerful moment. I cried my way down the aisle and now we have some awesome photographs of the sweet look on his face.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Gosh, there are so many details involved that you don't think about until you have to plan them. As much as I tried to remind myself that the small details didn't really matter, they did matter to me because I'm so detail oriented. The best advice someone gave me was to choose the things that I really loved-not what was trendy or popular. Pinterest can be helpful but also makes the decisions harder because there's so much to look at! Stick with what reflects you and try not to change your mind too many times :)

As far as silly advice goes, when I was about 9 I was helping out a family friend's wedding and the bride told me to not put lotion on my feet on my wedding day because her feet were slipping around in her shoes all day. I never forgot it and made sure I didn't put lotion on on my wedding day!
