Kate and Matt knew right away that a wedding outside the city was a must for their wedding day. "We wanted to take our guests on a journey that was a reflection of us," says the bride. "We wanted to capture the outdoor elements of our golf course venue, with the elegance of a garden party," she continues.

The couple chose to incorporate their love of board games into the reception. "Our families are big into hosting game nights, so we brought some of our favourites for our guests to enjoy," says Kate. "During our reception, to make us kiss, our guests had to putt on our mini putting green, which followed with our golf and games theme." Games were also incorporated into the reception decor with a Jenga guestbook and signs created using Scrabble tiles.

The couple also brought many DIY elements into their day. "Our DIY project ideas were mostly conceived by me, but unfortunately I am not terribly artistic, so most were executed by Matt and with help from our friends," laughs Kate.
