The Bride Diaries. Amy's Cake & Surprise Hen Plans - Whimsical...

WWW resident real bride, lovely Amy is with us this afternoon. She has been super busy, not only be thoroughly enjoying herself (not jealous AT ALL hehe) but has printed out her invitations, ordered the cake and given her friend free reign over the hen do. Thanks Amy xo Lou

Hi WWW lovelies, what a busy few weeks it's been..... Ash turned 30, I had the best night ever with my oldest friend watching McBusted, invitations have been sent to print, wedding cake supplier has been chosen, and chief bridesmaid Fay has started planning the hen do of a lifetime!

Ashley and I had the best weekend break in Wensleydale to celebrate him reaching the big 3 0, there were lovely walks in the countryside looking at waterfalls, a roaring fire, the hotel room dreams are made of, so much champagne, and of course cheese tasting galore! I felt so blessed to be sharing such a special day with him.

Our invitations have now gone to print, I'm beyond happy with them they look incredible, though I feel it will be very apparent to our guests who has had the biggest input into their design! I'm a girl ok, I love pink, a lot. So I've been enjoying browsing at all the little extras I can add before we finally send them out - www.zazzle.com is amazing for this.

We were invited to the evening reception for the wedding of one of Ashley's friends. I'm sure this will be true for many of you, but I seem to be taking everything in a lot more now at weddings, seeing how they've done things and if there's any ideas I can steal! Adam and Vicky had their names projected onto the front of the hotel, which when you drove up to it just looked so incredible, I'm going to have to investigate that one further. We got really quite merry that night, there is literally not one good/flattering picture!

A couple of nights ago I ventured back to Sheffield to see my dear friend Gemma, we had the best time reliving our teenage years at a McBusted gig. She was an absolute superstar in scoring us tickets 3 rows back from the stage!! I couldn't believe it as we kept getting closer and closer, we were perfectly positioned for when they walked passed us during one song - lost any cool points we had with our total fan girl behaviour!

Let there be cake! Being an avid baker myself, the cake was always going to be a big deal. I knew straight away I didn't want a standard 3 tier fruit cake with fondant icing and ribbon. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just want something a bit more special. It took quite a bit of searching, but thankfully I found The Whimsical Cake Company. Working out of her home in Leeds, Skye creates the most incredible sweet treats (seriously her white chocolate and raspberry, out of this world), she's a real advocate for making your wedding cake an absolute showstopper. I can't wait to see what she creates for us!

I have charged Fay with planning my "last night of freedom", basically because I want one less thing to plan, and I think it'll be really nice to be surprised. Other than Ashley, I would say Fay knows me better than anyone, so I trust her completely to come up with a hen do to remember. My only involvement is the guest list, other than that I have no say and she is to go as wild as she wants. I'm so excited to see what she has in store for me, watch this space!
