Beautiful Al Fresco Spanish Wedding

Beautiful Al Fresco Spanish Wedding

via

When the bride works for a wedding dress designer, the groom is a graphic designer, her father is a wine merchant, and his mother is an interior designer, you just know this Spanish wedding is just going to be a bit special.

And for Carlota and Francesc, it really was.

Set in Francesc's family's home on a Catalonia hillside, their intimate celebration, was cool, stylish, fun and romantic.

And all the way from Australia, wonderful destination wedding photographer, James Frost was there, to capture it all.

Carlota set the chic tone, looking gorgeous in her custom Otaduy wedding dress (which she reduced to just the under slip for late night dancing!) while Francesc was a cool groom in his made to measure Grisby suit and bow tie.

A foodie affair, the guests feasted on sushi, steak and seafood, with abundant fruits and beautiful desserts from the couple's favourite Barcelona restaurant. With Carlota's father, aka JOC, keeping the wines flowing, the scene was set for beautiful night of partying under the stars.

Our Wedding

Two hours away from Barcelona, against the amazing backdrop of La Vall de Bianya, La Garrotxa, family and friends were reunited to celebrate love. Our love story, after 10 years together.

The Decor & Florals

We got married in Can Xec, an amazing house belonging to Francesc's family, where he spent most of his childhood. The place was the only thing we had clear from the beginning. We stayed at the same house where the wedding was, just the two of us. A place where waking up is a luxury full of peace. All the decoration was all made by Lali and Mònica. Lali is the mother of the groom, she is an interior designer and owner of Dijous, a craft wonderland for kids' rooms located in Barcelona. And Mònica is my father's wife and an amazing landscaper. She is responsible for all the flowers that were in the wedding, from the bouquets to the details of the tables, and other flowers around the garden. And of course, my beautiful bridal bouquet, it couldn't be prettier.

The Attire

I was wearing a bespoke wedding dress from Otaduy, the indie brand where I work, which specializes in gowns handmade in Barcelona. Francesc's suit was made to measure at Grisby, a Spanish handcrafted tailoring brand since 1987, where his father made his suit for his wedding too.

The Photography

James Frost, is an amazing Australian photographer with Spanish roots. His granddad was a well-known wedding photographer; he promised us he would not just take pictures, but tell a story. And here it is. We couldn't imagine it better.

The Catering

For the caterer, we chose a buffet menu from 21 Demarzo, one of the coolest caterers in Barcelona. We decided to make it informal and dynamic, offering a different buffet menu; from sushi, to steak or seafood rice accompanied by the best wines of JOC, my father's wines. Jordi Oliver Conti, wine maker and sommelier is pioneer in the upmarket wines Empordà Denomination of Origin from the early 90s. As you can see, it's all about the family in this wedding!

Favourite Moments

It was emotional and beautiful. Literally, the happiest day of my own life. There is nothing we would change at all, everything was perfect. I work in fashion and Francesc, in graphic design, so the ceremony was full of delicious details - from the wedding invitations delivered in wine bottles to the special-edition prints reading "Set Tota la Vida." The quote is from one of the best-known songs by Mishima (a famous Catalan band). It roughly translates to "thirsty for life." Our advice for other couples? Enjoy every single moment of the day, it goes so fast.

So cool and fun, but really personal and romantic too. I love how the whole family got involved, but that is was still a pretty modern wedding. I just adore Carlota's long stem bouquet by her father's wife too - rustic, yet manicured, it's really unusual, don't you think?

Thanks so much to James Frost, and of course Carlota and Francesc for sharing this unique Spanish wedding with us. James will be back in Europe next year to photograph weddings, and is now taking bookings, v isit his website for more information.
