8 White Bridesmaid Dresses | Fly Away Bride

Ever since Pippa Middleton walked the aisle in that insanely beautiful Alexander McQueen dress at her sister Kate's wedding nearly four years ago, we have been seeing more and more brides following the trend and choosing white for their bridesmaid dresses. I have to say, it's a look I love. It's so fresh and elegant and ideal for a summer wedding. It's also a very brave choice and a little more thought has to go into the styling of the bridal party as it is too easy to lose the bride in a mass of white, but when it's done right, it's timeless.

When choosing long white bridesmaid dresses for your girls, giving some thought to the fabric choice and silhouette will help insure that you, the bride still stand out and still be the bell of the ball. For example, if your dress is A-line and features a tulle skirt, opt for something simpler for your bridesmaids. Column or mermaid style dresses in a slightly different shade of white or fabric will work well against your bridal gown. It's also a good idea to make sure that your neckline is not similar to any of the bridesmaids, so if you have a sweetheart neckline, your bridesmaids should not. Wearing a veil will also help clearly define you as the bride incase you are still a little bit worried that you will look to similar to the rest of the girls.

If you are not wearing a big white, ball gown style dress and are concerned that you will just blend into your bridesmaids when standing in a line, then short dresses are a great alternative, particularly if your wedding dress is more fitted or even boho in style. Having the girls hold a similar style of bouquet to each other but different size or colour wise from yours (or indeed having them wear a floral crown) will also help to break up the one bright shade.
