The Right Blush for Your Skin Tone

Blush is the go to beauty product for making your beautiful face look refreshed and alive. It's an instant glow right where you want it (think: Sandra Bullock pinching her cheeks in The Proposal when she first wakes up next to Ryan Reynolds.) Without going to such extremes, finding that perfect color to make you glow naturally can be tricky. We're here to help you get the fresh face you want without looking like a 5 year old who got into mommy's makeup bag.

Fair Skin Tone: For light and fair skin tones, the best colors to use are soft pinks, light corals and peaches. You want to match the color as close to your natural flush as possible, keeping in mind that this might change as the seasons do. If you have freckles that you don't want to cover up, choose a lighter, more translucent color so that it highlights your favorite features instead of hiding them. Our favorite go-to color for fair skin tones is Maybelline Fit Me! Blush in Light Rose.

Medium Skin Tone: For tan, medium or olive skin tones, choose a rich pink, warm muave or deep peach to enhance your already tinted complexion. When applying blush, first smile at yourself in the mirror. Where you see the apples of your cheeks, that is your target! Using a small amount at first, use circular motions to build the desired color you want. When you're all finished, smile again at yourself in the mirror (and maybe throw in a little wink) because you did it! Our favorite go-to color for medium skin tones is Pinch Me by MAC.

Dark Skin Tone: Dark skin tones look amazing with deep fuchsia, warm brown and tangerine blush colors. It's important not to choose something too light that will make your skin look washed out. Don't be afraid of using a deep fuchsia or raisin color, darker skin tones can really hold pigment. Stick to warm and bright colors to highlight your naturally dark skin tone. Our favorite go-to product for dark skin tones is Stila Convertible Color in Petunia.
