I love seeing how wild and carefree this shoot is....from the elevated centerpieces to the loose calligraphy of the invitations and menu...its a wonderful departure from what I normally would post, but still delightfully modern at the same time! Scroll down to get more insight behind the shoot.

From the vendors:
The vision for this styled shoot was to play upon the exciting seasonal transition of winter to spring in Maine, by invoking a sense of drama that comes with the end of a long and dark winter, while incorporating light and life with the shift that comes with daylight savings. We chose a venue that enveloped light and provided both the urban backdrop to a big city soiree we envisioned taking place in celebration of winter's end and a new life together in the birth of spring.

Our Bride wears a custom designed Sash Couture silk dress with sheer swiss dot chenille overlay influenced by the winter snow, and is paired with Sandgrens suede ankle clogs. A carefully handmade wool and velvet capelet provided a classic warm layer while framing our model's beautiful dark features. Our Groom's suit is entirely black velvet paired with a traditional black and white gingham shirt and textured cotton knit tie. The wedding rings and Bride's earrings are by Jen Burrall Designs.
The invitation suite by Parrott Design Studio infused a modern yet feminine feel, summoning guests to a formal and artistically festive gala in the city.

The table design was comprised of a unique black stained bar height table with custom white canvas panels and sheer white swiss dot chair skirts that mimic our wedding dress. Pewter platters and trays, some on wrought iron stands were used to create additional height and visual symmetry beneath three sputnik style chandeliers with gold dipped bulbs. Although silver is a focus, both gold and silver metals were used to compliment the black and white color scheme and proved to be a stunning canvas to the spring floral design and color palette.

From our floral designer, Megan Hevenor of FIELD Sustainable Floristry:
"Maine winter has its special gifts of darkness, coziness, intimacy, and reflection that I loved the chance to highlight in this pretty shoot.

The silver flower platters brought a shiny reflective aspect to the dinner tablescape, and their varying heights highlighted the tall dark table and tall dark venue ceilings. I filled these platters with plant foliage lush with purple undertones, creamy veins, speckles, fuzz, and iridescent qualities to play off the silver. The use of novel plant foliage added interest and abundance to the arrangements. I worked in coordinating hues of deep burgundy ranunculus, purple checkered lilies, plums, black agonis leaves, lady slippers, and white garden roses. The palette was rich with texture, shimmer, and winter darkness.
I followed a similar tack for the bridal bouquet, of deep plums and interesting foliage, but brought in more pinks and apricots to lighten her look."

The wedding cake was designed by Jessica of Nothing Bakes Like A Parrott and embodied all aspects of our vision, from the classic modern vibe to the arrival of spring just around the corner.

The venue is primarily a fermentory for kombucha and cider, and to keep with the cocktail-style feel of the event, we incorporated a bar hosting signature cocktails of 'gin and juice' that played off the floral color scheme. Creatively prepared amuse bouche-style hors d'oeuvres and Charcuterie are presented in a way that encourages conversation, mingling and merriment. To continue the semblance of drama and celebration, the ceremony is staged after dinner when the natural light is all but gone, creating a sense of heightened climatic ending to a most beautiful engagement.
