Sweet Spring Wedding with Cool Geometric Details

Sweet Spring Wedding with Cool Geometric Details

via

Most of the time, a bride will choose a dress that fits in with the style of her wedding, whether that's classic, bohemian, retro or romantic.

But when today's real bride, Abby, got married to her dashing groom Robbie in May, she used her gorgeous Mara Hoffman wedding dress to set the tone for the rest of her day.

Geometric adornments, soft coral tones, lots of succulents and a laid back artsy vibe. All of it was inspired by Abby's unique wedding dress. Pretty cool, right?

Captured by the incredible Paige Winn Photo, Robbie and Abby married at plantation home, Legare Waring House at Charles Towne Landing.

Shaded by stunning oak trees and steeped in history, it was an atmospheric setting for their outdoor ceremony and casually chic garden reception.

Despite the classic backdrop though, this wedding was laced with modern details, from craft homebrews to creative DIYs, and casual style catering to a cool covers band.

The perfect marriage of the linear with the lovely, be inspired by Abby & Robbie's beautiful big day...

Our Wedding in Three Words

Geometric Springtime Soiree

The Inspiration

My dress inspired the geometric theme and soft coral/pink color palette that I carried through the attire and décor of the venue. I wanted the wedding to have an artsy, bohemian vibe.

The Dresses & Flowers

My wedding dress was from the Mara Hoffman bridal line. I wore it with Madison Harding shoes, Alexis Bittar earrings, my Todd Reed engagement ring and wedding band, and my grandmother's vintage art deco diamond and sapphire ring. For the bridesmaids' attire we chose Joanna August dresses in different styles in champagne, pale pink, and pale peach, and various necklaces and earrings that I gave them with the geometric theme, their various shoes were nude to metallic in color. I am bad at remembering flower names. I wanted lots of greenery, no brightly colored flowers and LOTS of succulents.

The Ceremony

We chose our venue because of how the beautiful oak trees formed a canopy. As a reading we chose 'On Marriage' from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran We wrote letters to eachother and our officiant (our good friend) read them. Robbie also surprised me - He found a letter he wrote me shortly after we met that he also had the officiant read.

Favourite Moments

The laidback ceremony, we laughed A LOT. Drinking cans of Tecate. Dancing and partying all night surrounded by my favorite people, and getting pulled up on stage to dance during the last song.

The Photography

Paige was highly recommended by my wedding planner. Her website was exceptionally designed with many previous wedding photographs to look over. She had experience at my particular venue and other similar venues in the area, so I knew she would be able to capture the magical vibe of the oak trees and the essence of the day.

The Refreshments

We had four beers on draft on the "beer wall", including a beer Robbie Specifically brewed for me. For food, we had three stations, buffet style, it was casual but the food was great. Our wedding cake was a delicious almond cake with vanilla icing.

The Decor & Details

I made a large canvas photo backdrop. I also made the large "chalkboard" from a hollow door and chalkboard paint and wrote wedding details on it instead of printing programs. And I made little geometric table décor items for inside the house. The geometric designed pillowcases were bought from Etsy, and filled with throw pillows from my house.

The Ballpark Budget

Florals were a big splurge and so was the band (A Talking Heads tribute band Same As It Ever Was) Both were worth it to us.

The Honeymoon

We are going to Peru in August ( Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Macchu Picchu). I wish we had taken more time to relax right after the wedding, as we were exhausted. But we are excited for our upcoming adventure.

This looks like such a fun wedding, and so personal and intimate too - what a special day. I love that shot of Abby's first look with her dad - so lovely!

Thanks so much to Paige Winn Photo, and of course, Abby & Robbie for sharing all the details of their sweet spring wedding with us.
