Lovebirds | How did you two meet?

Gordon and I met during the spring of 2007 at The University of Alabama. I was finishing my senior year and Gordon was in Graduate School. We met through a mutual friend at a basketball game. I thought he was rather cute and we hit it off. We started to talk and really enjoyed each other's company. After graduation, I planned to move to Charleston, SC for the summer and was happily surprised when Gordon decided to come for a month. We enjoyed that month together, which led to the next 7 years of adventures, challenges, laughs and many memories.

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?

After 7 years of dating you would think that there was no way to have an engagement be a surprise. However, after a weekend of skiing in Colorado with a group of guy friends, Gordon returned to Birmingham and surprised me on a winter Monday night while I was in the most unflattering pajamas, drinking tea and half-asleep. It took me a second to realize what was happening! Everyone but me knew he had the ring (for TWO years!) so it was a blast calling everyone and finally sharing the news.

The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

Picking one is truly impossible but I will say when the voices of the African Children's Choir started singing "Oh Happy Day" tears started to flow. Having this choir was the best way I could think of to capture the beauty and love of Africa. I was sipping champagne with my new husband, surrounded by close family and friends dancing in the African sunset. It was truly a dream. I cannot begin to put into words how full my heart was at this moment.

I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day

Camerado, I give you my hand!
I give you my love, more precious than money,
I give you myself before preaching or law:
Will you give me yourself?
Will you come travel with me?
Shall we stick by each other as long as we live? -Walt Whitman
*Read by my lovely sister and Maid of Honor during the ceremony. However, she began to cry and my mother came up and finished it for u

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides

- Don't be afraid to stand your ground to unrealistic wants of other people but be gracious to those who are helpful and a part of your day.
- Give yourself plenty of time to plan it because it will sneak up on you.
- Make sure your passports and visas are in order.
- Finding a trust-worthy coordinator and team was the only way this wedding was pulled off! We shared ideas, and talked through so many aspects of our special day. Wedding Concepts were able to help me figure out the perfect balance of all my wishes. They were also there to help with the surprises that always seem to occur close to the wedding!
