Modern-Organic Wedding at The Colony House: Kristina + Oliver

Modern-Organic Wedding at The Colony House: Kristina + Oliver

Modern-organic is one of our new favorite wedding themes. What could be better than an amazing, clean-lined open venue space (in this case The Colony House in Anaheim, California ) decorated with the lushest of flowers + greenery? At this moment, it's hard to come up with a single thing! White Lilac Inc, the genius floral company todays bride, Kristina, works with, decked out the space with so much beauty, it's hard to believe it were even possible. Trust us, you'll just have to see for yourself. But before we dive right into the images (captured perfectly by Matthew Morgan), let's hear a bit more about the inspiration behind the day from Kristina:

Oliver and I love to hike and climb and camp and just be outside together so I wanted our wedding day to reflect what we loved to do as a couple. I love the look of lush greenery (copious and gluttonous amounts of greenery) and just touches of florals, the mix of masculine and feminine. From there I gave White Lilac a lot of freedom to design something special for us. I knew there would be a lot of greenery but they kept the rest of it a surprise until we walked in that day. It was overwhelming how beautiful everything came out and how much it felt like "us" when we walked in.

K's white + green bouquet is so classically lovely. But friends, that's just the start! Wait, 'til you see the reception space...

A stylish duo indeed: Kristina wore Truvelle + Oliver donned Black by Vera Wang.

Processional: Where is my Mind - Maxence Cyrin (Pixies cover)

Recessional: Your Love Keeps Lifting Me (Higher and Higher) - Jackie Wilson

First Dance: Everlasting Light - The Black Keys

Our most memorable moment was during our ceremony. Our pastor had us each submit to him, separately and privately, before the wedding day the reasons why we loved the other person. He read off what we each wrote about the other person when we took our vows. So much of our wedding felt like a group affair; it was about us, but it was also about our family and friends and everyone else it took to pull off our wedding, but that was our moment. That was the moment where nobody else existed and it was just about the two of us.

Jaws must have seriously dropped when this well-designed reception was seen for the first time! (And aren't those farmhouse tables by Signature Party Rentals a perfect fit?)

K + O's film below by Boffo Video is a definite must-see!

Be sure to take time off during the planning process to enjoy each other. Go on dates, do normal things, take time off from talking about the wedding. It's really easy to allow yourself to become consumed with the planning that you forget the reason for the wedding in the first place. Being able to take a step back and breathe in the phase that we were in allowed us to keep our sanity and helped keep us grounded.
