Get Unready With Me: How to Remove Waterproof Makeup

via

We have a love/hate relationship with waterproof makeup. While we love the elements it protects us from (rain, sweat, tears, extended kissing sessions, etc.), we hate that sometimes it just won't come off. If you're like us and have had remnants of waterproof makeup showing up long after you scrubbed your face clean, you're probably sick of this classic beauty battle. Check out our method to taking off waterproof in one fell swoop. Your face may never be the same!

Step 1: Makeup Remover

Waterproof formulas are designed to resist water-based solutions, so it's best to go with a product that's not watery or foamy. Apply a small amount of an oil- or cream-based makeup remover to a cotton ball or pad and hold it against your eye for about 30 seconds to ensure the remover really soaks the makeup. Then gently rub the solution over the entire eye and lip areas until mascara, eye shadow, liner and lipstick are all removed. We used The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover.

Step 2: Cleanse the Face

Give your face a good cleanse with your fave cleanser. Pat (don't rub) your face dry with towel.

Step 3: Take Care of Remaining Makeup

If there's any trace of makeup left on your face try using petroleum jelly or olive oil to remove it. Just apply a bit to a cotton ball or pad and going over the areas with left-over makeup. Wipe the area dry with a towel or tissue.
