10 Ways to Make Life Lovely - The Bank Holiday Edition

10 Ways to Make Life Lovely - The Bank Holiday Edition

via

Friday is finally here and not only that - it's a freakin' bank holiday y'all! (Like you didn't already know!) We're heading off to a festival for the weekend (as is our custom here!), but whether you've big plans for this holiday or not, we've curated another fabulous 10 ways to make life lovely to keep you fresh, fulfilled and having fun!

From little mind shifts that'll make life a little easier, to our fave beauty trends and reads!

So! If you're reading this in the morning, grab yourself a huge mug of coffee, and if it's a little later in the day, an cheeky brightener is obligatory!

I'm a strong believer in creating (and maintaining) a space that facilitates a clear mind and good focus, so when an old friend shared this phrase with me years ago now, it simply never left me.

Try it! Every time you go to sling that jumper on the bed, or mindlessly leave your mug at your desk, recite that little phrase, put it away and watch your space transform.

Uh. Sometimes you just need a change. #amiright?!

You just wake up one morning and you're all like: 'No, my hair's just so blah! Even a topknot won't sort it!'

You enter that (somewhat dangerous) realm of spontaneity: 'I know, I'll book an appointment for tomorrow and have it cut to a blunt bob and go platinum'

OR. Why not just try switching up your parting for a day?

Give it a go, it's kinda fun watching your mates figure out what's different. Subtle, but it's a gamechanger!

I challenge you not to swoon, smile or let out a little sigh looking at these babies...

They've been in the spotlight for a little while now, but that's not about to change.

Luscious petals, bold colours and that gorgeous rounded shape, peonies will brighten up any room and any mood.

For once, a completely logical instagram trend: Multimasking.

Now that's a bandwagon I can get on board with!

So why would I apply the same mask to my entire face?

Enter stage left: Multimasking!

Check out this article by Elle and the face map below and suss the perfect mask cocktail for your skin - super important for a bride-to-be!

It's the weekend, it's a bank holiday and it's time to try something new, my friends!

Don't order your usual!

It's so tempting and easy to get into a habit of choosing the same option everytime, it's foolproof, safe, and you know you're going to like it...

Whelp! It's time to change it up, gals!

Life's an adventure, and if you're a foodie like me, trying new dishes can be SUPER exciting. Plus, where better to try something new than in a great restaurant?! Have fun with your food this weekend, excite your tastebuds!

I couldn't endorse this idea more if I tried. I'm a doggy person through-and-through and if your life isn't feeling so lovely right now, or if you'd love a pup, but just can't afford/house/care for one right now, why not borrow one this weekend?!

Some good friends of mine are in this exact situation. They have a full blown love affair with Daschunds, but (most responsibly) choose not to have one while they're both working full-time, so they borrow! They spend full weekends swooning over a friend's little hound, spoiling said canine rotten, walking and doting on him until their heart's content!

Whether you borrow from a friend, use a service like Borrow My Dog or visit a rescue centre (they're always looking for volunteer walkers/professional cuddlers!) get your doggy fix and feel lovely!

This is another tried and tested principle from FBrides HQ!

A plant for every room.

Why? Because they literally bring your house/workspace to life! It's a bit of an intangible quality, but surrounding yourself with living elements just makes you feel straight-up good. Oh, and according to Mind Body Green (uh, LOVE that blog!) they also purify your air! Check it out:

'You probably know that plants convert carbon dioxide into oxygen; plants in your home are no exception. Oxygen affects every part of your body and mind, and making sure you get quality air is essential to your well-being.'

...Not to mention how fun plant and pot shopping is!

No?... Just me?!

Hashtag now reading.

No, really, I'm reading the Rosie Effect as we speak, and loving it I might add!

A series of two books by author, Graeme Simon, check out the blurb for the first book, The Rosie Project:

Love isn't an exact science - but no one told Don Tillman. A thirty-nine-year-old geneticist, Don's never had a second date. So he devises the Wife Project, a scientific test to find the perfect partner. Enter Rosie - 'the world's most incompatible woman' - throwing Don's safe, ordered life into chaos. But what is this unsettling, alien emotion he's feeling?

Endearing and laugh-out-loud hilarious, these books have been passed around my friends family this summer!

If you haven't already, you really must read!

Ha! No no, I'm not talking about that Miley Cyrus induced trend for growing (and dyeing!) your amrpit hair - that said, if it's your thing, power to you!

No, I'm talking about deodorant.

How is this gonna make life more lovely? I won't go into detail (head over to the wonderful Wellness Mama if you fancy reading up a little more!), but in a nutshell, conventional deodorants are known to contain a lot, like A LOT, of harmful chemicals, (we're talking carcinogens here!) which are being absorbed directly into your skin on a daily basis.

No so cool, hey?!

Life = lovely!

Personally, I'm a big fan of Salt of the Earth products (available online, on Amazon and in your local Holland and Barrett), but do your research, and find something you're happy with, there are a whole host of products available!

We adore this last one.

It can be so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life, can't it?

Raise your hand if you've ever said something to the effect of: 'Not now, babe, I'm in the middle of something and I'm just so busy today.'

...Just so you know, I have both hands raised. Totally guilty and it's not okay.

I recently read two quotes on Pinterest (yes, I'm a complete quote whore, judge me!), that were to this effect:

'Stop the glorification of busy'

and

'Never interrupt someone while they're trying to love you'

I find both so valuable in the age we live in, especially as a couple.

This weekend, instead of my hands holding my phone, or my eyes watching the tv, or my mouth reciting our 'To Do' list; my hands will run through his hair, my eyes will take the time to look into his and I'll be saying 'No, I'm never too busy'.

Have a wonderful bank holiday, beautiful people!

Show each other, and yourselves, some serious love!

Peace + Love
