Relaxed & Stylish City Wedding Where They Walked Down the Aisle...

I love that Helen and Liam along with Baby Charlotte walked down the aisle together with their friends and family following them. It was a really special moment and really set the tone for the whole beautiful day, which was held on the 19 th June 2015. They held their ceremony at the Town Hall before walking to Oh Me Oh My for their fun party.

I just love this stylish day for so many reasons. The blooms were just divine, especially that lace ribbon bouquet, the bridesmaids wore mint lace dresses and the reception space was decked out in pretty bunting.

Helen donned a dress by one of my very favourite designers, Jenny Packham. She looked amazing in "Rose" with her blue Rachel Simpson shoes. Wow.

Thanks so much to Lisa Howard Photography for providing the dreamy imagery this afternoon.

THE PROPOSAL | Liam sprang a proposal on me in October 2012, not long after I became pregnant so any wedding plans were firmly put on hold. It was when I was on maternity leave that I got addicted to the TV programme "Say Yes to the Dress" and so planning commenced.

THE VISION | We wanted something very relaxed and informal. The idea of a big reveal moment filled me with absolute dread and I said right from the beginning that I didn't want to walk down the aisle. As we have a daughter we really wanted the ceremony to be about the 3 of us coming together as a family, we walked down the aisle together and our guests followed us into the ceremony room.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | It took about a year, including a lot of shopping around for the best deals (it's the Yorkshire roots in me!). There were lots of decisions to make but I had great help from my bridesmaids and I enjoyed the process.

THE VENUE | We wanted a city wedding. Even though neither me nor Liam are from Liverpool (he's a Londoner and I'm from Yorkshire) we've both been here for over 10 years - and we've made a Scouser! Liverpool city centre has some really amazing spots and the waterfront is iconic. We had the ceremony at the Town Hall; an incredible building full of grandeur which speaks for itself. The team there were very accommodating to our non-traditional approach to the ceremony. The reception venue "Oh me Oh my" is a hop skip and a jump down the hill from the Town Hall, it's a magnificent venue which also boasts a roof terrace overlooking the Liver building - what's not to love about that?

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Jenny Packham "Rose" and Rachel Simpson blue shoes. I wore an antique bracelet which was a great aunt's, I didn't need anything else.

FINDING THE DRESS | Ha ha, well, I fell in love with the dress at first sight but needed a cooling off period! I knew that on my wedding day I had to feel totally comfortable, that meant for me no strapless designs and something unstructured and draped. After a few nightmare appointments in salons, I realised I had to decide on designers that I liked and go and find their dresses. I'd actually tried this dress on in a salon in Cheshire but couldn't come to terms with the price tag. With Victoria (the redhead bridesmaid) we did a 300 mile 'round trip to Northampton to see some other Packham designs; but they wouldn't do and "Rose" was there again to tempt me. We went for a pint and an intense conversation, then went back to the salon, tried her on and left within 20 min - it just had to be!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Who cares? Sorry, Liam wore a Ted Baker suit in dark blue.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Liam's a musician so the music was really important to us. We had a brass quartet at the ceremony (another bit of Yorkshire) and Liam arranged a selection of songs to represent where our guests travelled from - we actually walked down the aisle to "Snooker Loopy" by Chas and Dave, which wasn't planned but is quite funny. Liam's uncle Jim read "Scaffolding" by Seamus Heaney and my younger brother Ian read "I Wanna be Yours" by John Cooper Clarke. We walked out to the band playing "God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Yes, my bridesmaids looked pretty cute. Sarah, Stephanie, Catherine and Victoria.

THE FLOWERS | I really love flowers and I can't express how happy I was with them. My florist Charlotte at "Verity and Thyme" is incredibly talented and we were on the exact same wavelength. She incorporated my great loves, green hydrangea, sweet peas, fuchsia (which my Mum had for her bouquet) and peonies; and added touches of colour.

THE CAKE | Homemade! Well, not in my home... but still. The cake was made by my bridesmaid Victoria who is living in China at the moment; she actually flew into the UK on the Wednesday, made the cake on the Thursday and then was a lovely bridesmaid on Friday - I'm very lucky to have such a committed friend. Again, we wanted something which reflected the informal casual feel of the day, and which tasted great - our cake was the dessert at the meal.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Lisa came recommended to us and I love her style. I knew when we met that she was someone who would keep me relaxed, and someone that I'd like to have with me on the day. She did a fantastic job, although Baby C was so tired she wouldn't smile for her!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We had an ice cream cart at the drinks reception and I made sure I got a cone. Liam's Mum Elsie made the bunting for us. The tables were named after snooker players and for the table places names we used a small flag in a Tunnocks teacake.

THE HONEYMOON | We're going to go away in August. A family holiday in Somerset where it's all about the toddler and then Liam and I are going to sneak away without Baby C for a few nights in a posh hotel in London.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | For me it was all about the ceremony, arriving and seeing all our friends and family and making our vows.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Decide which parts have to happen and budget round it.
