When it came to designing their wedding day, Sarah + Corbin knew they wanted to include personal touches throughout the entire setting + create a scene that melded together all of their favorite things. They dreamt up the idea to have the styling mimic that of a warm + cozy home, but wanted to incorporate their love of the outdoors, too. So the perfect compromise was a backyard wedding where they could create lots of fun 'wall' vignettes styled with the quirkiest finds they could imagine! And when Sarah told us, My favorite director is Wes Anderson and he definitely had some impact on the design and style, it all started to make perfect sense! I first knew that I wanted the over-all design to reflect our quirkiness and also speak volumes about our history and who we are with an abundance of personal details. However, that's really all we knew we wanted. I had such a hard time when people would ask about the colors or really anything about the style of our wedding. So it ended up being the most adorable, industrial, midcentury, Texan, lovely, eclectic, rustic, Fantastic Mr. Fox styled wedding that I could have never put to paper or into words. We couldn't have made any of it happen with out our loving family and friends who helped with everything from DIY projects to officiating. The whole day my heart was almost exploding with positive energy and sentiments from everyone near and dear to us. We cannot get enough of the amazing walls these two created! Let's hear a bit more about them from Sarah, I knew I wanted the wedding to have a very hand crafted feel, but I also didn't want to bog myself down with project after project. So I picked things that would have a great impact but be relatively easy to execute. The biggest one (and my favorite) by far were the stand alone walls. Corbin and I discussed the design of them and I drew up a few rough plans and Corbs built and painted them. The styling of the walls was done by my aunt and uncle who have always been artists of home steading and making. The paintings on the walls were pieces done by my aunt.
Corbin's grandfather, who has passed, collected electric line insulators and we incorporated those into our center pieces. Those stood on wooden blocks which my mom and stepdad burned our logo into. Corbin is a geologist with a super cool rock collection (which I still remember him showing me on our first date) and I knew I wanted to show case them in the terrariums I created. My mom and I had collected so many miscellaneous antiques and projects from our DIY Polaroid photo booth to me taking a whack at chalk calligraphy.
