NYFW has come to a close, and any minute now we'll be bringing you fresh insight from London. We just have a few loose ends to tie up first...

We met the Veronicas, as they are affectionately known, at the last New York Fashion Week, and quickly confirmed what you instinctively know as a fan of the line: Veronica Beard is all about iconic women and essential pieces.

While fall's muses included Bianca Jagger and Jane Birkin, there's a new It girl for spring '16. Find out who inspired this look in the Q&A that follows.

Last time we talked, you told me what was on your fall mood boards: lots of long, '70s-riffing flares with fitted little jackets, like in the movie Love Story and as worn by several specific icons. Who was on your mood board for spring '16?

Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard: Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface. Spring 2016 is inspired by the hot glam of Miami in the late '70s and early '80s, when feminine confidence turned heads. Classic American sportswear infused with Latin sensuality is seen throughout. Sleek fabrics and sharp pinstripes play off organic linens and lace-inset silks in this collection of reimagined icons. A soft color palette takes the edge off strong tailored silhouettes, while plunging necklines, exposed shoulders and cropped pant lengths leave just enough to the imagination.

You also mentioned your mothers and your friends and your clients. What's the common thread with the Veronica Beard woman? What's essential to her nature, and how did you make sure you gave her the tools to play that up with this spring collection?

We design every season with "want," "need" and "have-to-have" pieces in mind. What are we all looking for at that particular time of year, regardless of season? Will we wear this beyond one or two environments? What makes something a wardrobe MVP? That's what we're always after. And, of course, we are driven to design pieces that allow you to truly master the effortlessly chic look. A head-to-toe white or skinny, flare-leg, light blue suit with an embroidered silk shell can change up your work uniform and also look amazing out to dinner or a luncheon.
