Yummy Fall Pies & Tarts

It's the first day of fall! Some people would choose to celebrate with photos of gorgeous leaves or cozy sweaters or coffee of the pumpkin spice variety. Us? It's all about the pie. Filled with pumpkin, apples, chocolate, and rich spices, these pies and tarts are the very best part of autumn.

What says "fall" more than apples?

The most delightful autumn crop is definitely apples. And from a delicate galette (above) to a decadent salted caramel apple pie, these treats will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth!

What's Up, Punkin?

A classic pumpkin pie with a flaky crust is a delicious, spiced dessert that is really only served during this time of year. So, make sure to dig in!

Of course, some people prefer sweet potatoes (below) to pumpkin, and although we respectfully disagree, we do understand that the heart wants what it wants.

One of the great things about pumpkin is how well it blends with other flavors. This spiced orange and coconut pumpkin pie (below, left) is as tasty as it smells. For a richer dessert, try a chocolate pumpkin pie served alongside a strong cup of coffee (below, right).

Decadent Flavors

When the weather is so hot, you don't feel like savoring rich flavors like maple and nutmeg. But now that there is a chill in the air, it feels like it's time to put a maple nut tart in the oven (below).

Banoffee pie (below) is a favorite dessert in the UK, consisting of bananas, cream, and dulce de leche in a crumbly crust. It's the type of comforting, homemade treat you make to savor with friends (maybe as a reward to bridesmaids for addressing envelopes?).

For those that prefer their dessert with a side of savory, these apple butter and bacon tartlets (below) are a perfect salty-sweet combo.

Have Pie, Will Travel

The best invention ever? Hand pies. It's all the deliciousness without needing those pesky plates and forks. Whether you prefer adorable little pumpkin pie rounds (below, left) or pecan bars, your guests can take these treats out on the dance floor.

Bridal shower brunches can be made even better with these fall-themed homemade pop tarts (below).

Okay, we understand that these are "pie" in name only, but we couldn't exclude them. Pumpkin whoopee pies and oatmeal creme pies are lunchbox classics that are right at home on any autumn sweet table!
