Modern Yet Classic Grey & White Chic & Elegant Wedding - Whimsical...

This divine affair is the epitome of elegance with a classic yet modern twist.

Ben and Katherine tied the knot on the 3rd July 2015 at Old Down Manor in Bristol. They went for a grey and white theme with a touch of hessian, which was simple yet so very chic.

I adore the attire, with Katherine in a low back lace gown and Ben in a bespoke navy and grey suit. The romantic décor was enhanced by beautiful Peony and Rose blooms, while guests were entertained by live music.

Thanks so much to Chanelle Knapp Photography for sharing these stunning images with us this morning.

THE PROPOSAL | A trip to Paris and proposed top of the Eiffel Tower on my birthday 17th April 2013.

THE VISION | Modern take on vintage. Grey and white theme with a little hessian here and there. Simple but elegant.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Being a stay at home mum to Hugo I thought I would have more time on my hands to enjoy the planning of our wedding! I was wrong he takes up more of my time than a full time job! But I knew what I wanted which made things easier! I dragged Ben along to lots of wedding fairs to get more ideas and advice. But my main source for ideas was Pinterest. I spent hours looking at different styles and ideas from hair and make up to flowers suits and décor!

I found it hard not knowing what the end result was going to look like, without being able to put everything together, so that's where Pinterest was my best friend as I could create a wedding board and put all my ideas together.

I made many trips to the venue to keep it fresh in my mind and took pictures so I could try and visualise where to put things.

THE VENUE | Old Down Manor, Tockington, Bristol. It is just a stunning venue. It is Bright, and beautiful, and Olivia was such a great hostess at the venue.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress is from A Class Brides and I wore a mini birdcage veil which I attached a hair piece too both purchased on Etsy.

FINDING THE DRESS | I spent hours on the net looking for styles that I liked and what designers made them and looked for what shops in my area stocked them and that's how I come across A Class Brides. I knew I wanted lace straps with a low back or backless design. I then choose just two shops, I didn't want to be going round to every bridal shop trying on hundreds of dresses! They were very professional and helpful at A Class Brides and also advised me on what they thought would suit my frame. it turned out it was the very 1st dress I tried on!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Ben and his best man got their suits from Clifton Suits.

Ben designed the suits himself and had it made to order, again he had a good idea of what he wanted but having one made meant he wasn't able to try it on before hand, he was nervous to see the final attire after choosing every little detail from colours, material, pocket seams and positioning buttons, lining etc. But with the help from the guys at Clifton Suits it turned out exactly how he wanted and we both loved it.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We had no readings we wanted to keep it short and sweet! The song I walked down the stairs and aisle to Sam Smith - Lay Me Down.

And our 1st dance song was Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | We kept the ceremony to just immediate family and 1 friend each - so my best friend Aimie was my maid of honour who was 7 months pregnant so finding a dress to fit was a bit of a struggle but thanks to the multi way dress design she looked beautiful in a charcoal grey floor length dress showing off her bump!

I also had two flowers girls Ava and Lola, which I had in a lighter shade of grey.

THE FLOWERS | I had mainly ivory roses with some pale pink to break it up and hessian covering the flower stems and the bouquets and men's button holes and mainly consisted of roses.

THE CAKE | Made by Ben's mum Caroline, again just simple and elegant 3 tier square cake in ivory with grey ribbons and roses.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Chanelle Knapp, need I say anything photos say it all!!!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | As the venue itself was so beautiful we really didn't have to make much effort, but I had sashes and grey ribbons out on the chairs, for the ceremony and breakfast with grey and white rose petals along the aisle. And flowers up the stair case, along the table we had a different sized milk bottle style glasses filled with roses and some silver grey vases.

Grey initials on the fireplace which I made myself.

Giant Love letters and silver lanterns for the evening reception as well as drapes and up lighters to create some mood lighting for the evening... To create a more relaxed atmosphere which was an important factor for us. In the evening we focused on the music as that's what we love, so we had a bongo player, a DJ and a saxophonist who have all worked along side each other before. We were so pleased with it and was exactly what we wanted and all our guests loved it.

THE HONEYMOON | Having 17 month Hugo, we just had a 2 week family holiday to turkey.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | From start to finish I loved every second of my day and wish I could do it all again!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | My advice to other couples whilst planning the wedding would be to relax and enjoy the process don't get stressed over the little things that really don't matter.

And on the day try your best to stick together, because more often than not most couples spend most of their day talking to guests separately and don't actually see much of each other. Talk to your guests together or simply enjoy your day together and let people come to you.
