Terri and Mathieu met at a bar in Fort McMurray on the day Mathieu moved there. "I remember seeing Mathieu walk through the doors of the pub and thinking he was the most beautiful man I ever laid eyes on," Terri recalls. Both music fans, the two were soon drawn to the dance floor and sparks flew.

The couple got engaged in Montreal. "We knew from the moment we were engaged we would have a summer wedding," Terri shares. "We chose pretty colours of pink, peach and green for our day-our palette wasn't planned but just organically came together."

Strong winds were in the forecast on the day of the wedding. "You can see the evidence from Mathieu's Rod Stewart-like hairstyle!" Terri laughs.

Moments before the ceremony, the couple's marriage certificate was swept away by the wind and plunged toward the Petitcodiac River. A close friend of Mathieu's family dove over the balcony railing to retrieve it. "He risked life and limb, saving the certificate a few feet from being swallowed up by the river," Terri smiles.

The bride's favourite wedding detail was a surprise from her uncle: a baby blue 1959 Thunderbird to chauffeur her to the ceremony. "Throughout high school I had a picture of one hanging in my bedroom and I always said I wanted it as a graduation gift," Terri recalls. "Instead, I got it as a special treat on my wedding day, which was amazing!"

Terri also loved their favour table. "It looked like something out of an Anthropologie store," Terri remarks. The unique favours were individual glass vases of different shapes, sizes and colours containing a single-stem carnation. "It served as display during the reception and then the guests chose one at the end. It was beautiful!" Terri says.
