Rustic Meets Modern Yellow & Green Barn Wedding - Whimsical...

Smiles all round this morning for this bride and groom's delightful nuptials.

Emma and Alexander chose to marry on the 7 th June 2015 at Blackthorpe Barn in Suffolk. They fell for the rustic charm of this majestic venue and set about putting a own modern stamp on their wedding. Using hand crafted touches in lemon and lime it really brought their personalities to the forefront.

Emma wore a stunning A line gown with pretty blooms her in her hair, while Alexander was suited and booted in Reiss. Pom poms, sweet finger print stationery and fairy lights aplenty.

Thanks goes to Steven Anthony Photography for sharing these gorgeous images today.

THE PROPOSAL | 10 th May 2013 - A complete surprise on our 4 year anniversary! Alex booked a hotel in central London and woke up me with a train ticket and a suitcase for me to pack to meet him in London after work. We met at Fenchurch Street and went to the hotel and before I'd even popped my suitcase down he was on one knee! It was very romantic and he was very nervous because he was so worried I had seen the ring box bulging in his chest pocket. We had an amazing weekend in the hotel and spa and doing lots of touristy things in London. It was magical!

THE VISION | We generally have quite modern simplistic taste but we completely fell in love with the rustic 17 th century barn and worked hard to bring our modern style in with the rustic rural setting using lots of fresh lemon and lime colours with the green surroundings.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We are both quite organised, knew what we wanted (which definitely helps!) and (mostly) agreed on everything!

BUDGET | Originally about 12k, in reality closer to 13k plus honeymoon.

THE VENUE | Blackthorpe Barn, Rougham, Suffolk - we looked at three or four barns but all were quite finished and restored. Blackthorpe Barn is rural and rustic, down to the bats in the thatched roof and the wood worm in the beams. It is a beautiful building and we absolutely fell in love with it.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | My dress was Monet in Ivory from Serena Bridal and became my something new. My shoes were my mum's which I had the lace whitened at a shoe repairers and became my something old. My hoop was also my mums and became my something borrowed. My jewellery was my own that Alex had bought over the last few years of our relationship and as blue topaz became my something blue.

FINDING THE DRESS | Was easy! I was adamant I wanted high wasted with a sheer illusion panel across the shoulders. I tried one on exactly as I wanted and hated the shape. No. 2 was perfect! Strapless with a little bit of Cinderella and made my waist look tiny! I generally like simple dresses but the subtle lacy detail scattered down the dress was stunning.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Alex's suit was from Reiss in dark grey tweed and closely matched to a lighter grey suit from Debenhams. We decided against going too formal so the tweed suits and brightly coloured knitted ties worked well and are in cupboard for reuse!

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We didn't have any readings in the ceremony as we wanted to keep things fairly informal but I walked down the aisle to a string version of Canon in D, signed the register to Ben Howard's Old Pine. We walked back down the aisle to House of Gold and had our first dance to Flowers in Her Hair by the Lumineers. My father/daughter dance was I loved Her First by Heartland.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | My best friends Laura and Charlotte and my sister in law to be Joanna made 3 beautiful bridesmaids and had lovely long dresses in Kiwi from Serena Bridal. They had sweetheart style tops with an almost Grecian halterneck and grazed the floor. Laura's 5 year old daughter was our beautiful flower girl and wore a dress in Lemon from BHS.

THE FLOWERS | Liliana Florist by Lucy McCarthy created us beautiful real bouquets of Yellow Gerberas and Hypericum berries. The button holes were bright yellow gerberas and the corsages were calla lilies to match my bouquet. My bouquet was a rich mix of green berries, chrysanthemums and calla lilies - it smelt wonderful and I was really pleased with all the flowers.

THE CAKE | Was a custom three tier square creation by Sharon Castro - Cakes For All Occasions - with lemon and lime curds through the middle and zig zag patterns to all sides. Perspex boxes gave us the perfect spacers.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Steven Anthony Photography - Steve was one of the first decisions we made and fitted our style perfectly. Vivid, modern photographs with a vintage style colour and focus made our day look beautiful. Steve fitted our informal style mixing easily with guests and squeezing a small amount of formal photographs discreetly into our day. We have had nothing but amazing feedback about Steve and his photographs.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We mixed modern glass fish bowls with chunky stones and real gerbera that we planted our selves with hessian table runners to mix the modern and rustic styles we liked so much. We used brown paper bags and traditional lemon and lime bon bons with fresh green apples and flickering led wax candles (no real candles in the thatched roof) to decorate our tables. We used tree stumps to hold the table number and hand-made 60+ tissue pom poms to give some colour in the barn and create some height within the stunning ceiling.

THE HONEYMOON | We had a few days in Vegas doing the casinos and Grand Canyon, drove to LA in a white mustang for a few more days doing the walk of fame, Universal and a few beaches. We then drove up the scenic pacific coast highway stopping at Pismo Beach for a night and carrying on to San Francisco for five days. San Francisco was our highlight doing the Griffith observatory, Alcatraz and cycling over the Golden Gate Bridge. We crammed in so much, we needed a holiday to relax after we got home!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | All of it! I don't think either of us could pin point a single moment that wasn't absolutely magical!

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Get organised - work out what you want, budget and stick to it, compromise on your choices together because everything you choose will be perfect!
