Recently, I was looking at Pinterest and came across an article featuring wedding dresses for "mature" brides. I was shocked to see a collection of dowdy dresses (in silhouettes flattering on no one ever) for "women over 40." Are you kidding me?! While no woman over the age of 40 wants to wear a wedding dress that makes her look like a teen beauty pageant contestant, there's no need to break out the orthopedic shoes and beaded vests just yet. No matter what you call it-older, mature, or "of a certain age," you deserve to look and feel your best on your wedding day. Here are 10 dresses that are absolutely fabulous on a bride of any age.

Above, this is one of my favorite wedding dresses of the year. It's unique and sophisticated, with a fusion of Art Deco and boho detailing.

Remember how Carrie just wanted to wear a cream-colored suit in her wedding to Big? These lace separates (above) are a slightly more flirty version. Sophisticated and flattering on a range of body types, this is the perfect ensemble for a city hall wedding.

Another silhouette that looks great on nearly every figure is the a-line dress. Pick a length that hits your leg in the right place (more petite brides might favor a shorter hemline) and a pair of gorgeous shoes!

Although 2016 is bringing back the princess ballgown, I still love what a minimalist dress can do for a confident bride. Simple and natural, a dress like the one below lets you shine, rather than overpower you.

Brides in their 50s and older) face different concerns about wedding fashion than younger brides. Although they might not be as worried about their hips or waistline anymore (making peace with your curves is a beautiful thing), they might want to conceal areas where they feel like their skin isn't as resilient as it used to be (such as their arms or neck). True for any bride, you should show off what you love and draw attention away from what you don't! Luckily, this year is full of different necklines to offer you coverage where you want it. These scoop-necked dresses below are elegant and understated.

If you find a dress you love, but the neckline is a little low (designers seem to adore a deep v right now), you can always add a lace panel.

If you want to feel "bridal," but not too fussy or reminiscent of a cupcake, you can still wear plenty of frothy lace. Just find a more streamlined silhouette. A fit-and-flare like the one above is made all the more magical with a slightly sheer lace back, and the trumpet gown below works well with or without a veil.

Don't love your arms? You're not alone. No matter what your age, sleeveless can be scary. Find a shrug or wrap to go with your dress that makes you feel your best. Monique Lhuillier added the faux fur shrug above and transformed this dress into something worthy of a Russian novel.
