Five Minutes With...Amelia From Pictures and Hearts - Polka Dot Bride

via

My favourite wedding theme is one where it focuses on relationships. Whether it was incorporating special twists within the events, for example in one wedding, after the dad's speech, he asked her for a dance and they danced with the bride's sister singing in the background. There wasn't a single dry eye in the room! (FYI Ms C,, the photo corresponding to this particular wedding isn't the real photo for this wedding i mentioned, but it could be a great illustration to this story)

There was also a wedding where the groom held a bouquet of 10 roses, and after his grand entrance, he said publicly what he loves about her, one rose for a reason.

I also love weddings that tells the bride and groom's stories through their wedding styling. One of my favourite is when the couple collected childhood photographs of ALL their guests for the seating chart, that was a winner!!!

2 What inspires you?

love stories, whether it was puppy love or it was a couple that has been married for 50 years. I love listening to their stories and they inspire me.

3 What is special about weddings to you?

the unforgettable and precious moments, I love how as a wedding photographer, I get the permission to play a part in initiating precious memories. I don't overdo this tho!! I see the atmosphere and wait for the right moment, I execute it in a very low key manner so it's not staged nor forced. For example, sometimes I will let mom and dad know not to watch their daughter get ready and I tell them that it will be a surprise. They get to see her for the first time together, and that moment, without fail...is always beyond words... beautiful. Sometimes I tell the groom to carry some tissues and hint to him that it's so sweet when he wipes her tears of joy. Without fail, the grooms always do that and I think that is such a heart melter moment for her and for everyone who sees it!

I get such a sense of joy when these little moments blossom in everyone's hearts

4 What do you love about photography?

As cliche as it sounds, photography is powerful. It has the powerful to capture moments people don't see and being able to show them those moments, those angles... is a very rewarding achievement!

5 What is your favourite image of all time?

I haven't found one!!! If I have found one, I would have stopped learning. I would love to keep creating my favourite images!

6 What is exciting about your business right now?

That we have a business we adore, that our other very gifted principal photographers Naoko and Shelley absolutely share our heart and our vision of the company. We find such joy walking alongside our clients to help them achieve the most unforgettable wedding day and spoiling them!

7 What is your Number 1 tip for brides and grooms?

Don't let the planning side of things distract you from what is truly important, it is a celebration of you, of your love story. Immerse yourself in it, and be on stress-elimination mode. Bring together crew members whom you feel connected to, who values you both and will go the extra mile for you both. This is the only way to get an amazing, unforgettable and smooth wedding day.

Can I mention another one?? Be different, it might not be as unreachable as you might think!!! Do some research and ask around

One couple had a helicopter as their 'wedding car' and the other had a horse because they ride horses! Their wedding photographs naturally look quite unique!

8 What is the one tool of your trade that you can't live without?

My magic stool. I carry this wooden light stool everywhere with me to give me an extra height as I am quite petite and some of my brides and grooms are so tall! and I do like to try different angles

9 What are your resolutions for 2016?

I would love to do more humanitarian projects

10 What are you excited about right now?

I am so excited about finishing the end of 2015 strong!

11 What is a special personal talent you possess?

I think I am a very, very good problem solver and can handle stressful situations pretty well, which is very handy on a wedding day!

12 Where is your favourite place to escape to for downtime and why?

Centennial park. We ride to the park with my boys, little 1.5 year old on daddy's bike and we stop by the ducks pond to feed the ducks and blow some bubbles for the baby to catch!
