It was just the other day that we were up in the Herve Leger offices talking to creative director Lubov Azria about how to wear the current season when she mentioned that movement is one of her big passions, and there it was on the runway on Saturday: unfinished tweed fringe-flying and dancing wildly on the runway to the electroclash soundtrack.

And while we didn't talk about grunge plaids, patchworked suede, safety pins and platform boots the other day, it was clear that the entire realm of iconoclastic rock girls has been on her mind. The collection hit on all the best bad girl elements from past decades while remaining remarkably true to its strong and affecting roots.

The program notes eluded to an timeless rebel who's "tough, provocative and alternative," and marked Fall 2016 as a "celebration of strength, independence and the spirit of rock and roll." And can't you just see any number of A List post-MTV babes slouching beautifully along in the Herve Leger puffy coat (!), chic studs, and a full-length '90s plaid skirt?

A presentation as gritty, modern and girl-powered as this one better have a good beat-and it did. Here's how Herve Leger sounded:
