This Is the Makeup Shade We're Obsessed With for Spring

We had our moment with all-things orange ( cheeks, eyes, lips - literally everything), and while we'll always reserve a place in our hearts for a good tangerine blush, there's a new shade in town that has our full attention: lavender. Hey, spring is all about fresh starts, right? We have a tendency to go a little crazy on color trends, so to make sure we don't go overboard on all things purple, we had pro makeup artist Alana Dawn show us how to master the art of lavender makeup. Here's how it's done!

1. Apply a lavender eye shadow with a luminous sheen all over your lids (like Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Asphyxia) and blend the color out for a softer look.

2. To really channel some spring feels, buff a shimmery, champagne shade into your crease to diffuse the purple. And don't be afraid to be heavy-handed with the glitter. A little sparkle never hurt anybody! We used Lancôme Color Design in Shimmer Sidekick.

3. Sweep a violet-toned blush along your cheekbones. Make sure you blend it out well so the color is subtle and doesn't overpower the rest of your face. Try Urban Decay Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in Bittersweet.

Finish off your lavender look with a glossy purple lippie like 4. Maybelline Color Sensational High Gloss in Raspberry Reflections.
