Crystal and Evan's October wedding took place in Seattle. They had an origami theme and they made it all themselves! "When we lived in our first apartment together in Napa, we hung paper boxes onto Christmas lights that we wanted to leave up for the rest of the year", the bride began. "We had been making these origami boxes since we were kids, and wanted to represent the meaning of them in our wedding with many things made of paper."

"We focused all of our attention three weeks prior to work on making paper flower bouquets and boutonnières. We also created origami box lanterns with string lights, altar decorations of paper fans and flowers, and treats as favours."

"Our ceremony space was intimate and packed with about 100 guests, all focused toward our paper altar", she continued. "We didn't do a first look, so it was the first time seeing each other that day. My favourite moment of the whole day was walking down the stairs and seeing my husband-to-be for the first time. It was very surreal for both of us because no amount of imaging that moment compares to the real life energy, love, and happiness that was filled in the air that day. The ceremony itself was very emotional, yet very entertaining because my cousin officiated and she's really goofy!"

The couple met when they were at French Pastry School in Chicago so of course they made their own wedding cake. "We saved money by making our own wedding cake", Crystal said. "We planned and organized what we could do in advanced and kept the design simple so we wouldn't be stressing out the day before the wedding. Since our decorations were made out of paper, we could take our time making everything using inexpensive materials that we know would still be perfect weeks later."

"Our advice to other couples would be to trust in others that the day will be so wonderful and go smoothly", the bride concluded. "Also don't worry about doing everything yourself on your day. Our day-of coordinator and close cousins spotted a wedding crasher during our cocktail reception and we had no idea about it until they told us weeks later!"
