Stylish + Fun California Desert Wedding: Sam + Adam

via

Sam + Adam's beautiful desert wedding was chock full of pun - an no that wasn't a typo just there! These two definitely weren't afraid to let their silly personalities shine throughout every facet of their wedding's design, and their love of and talent for amazing puns became the main theme for the day. We love how much this celebration was about Sam + Adam and the life and the love they've built together. Below, Sam gives us more details + backstory, but just wait 'til you see how everything was brought to life!

Adam and I met on Tinder, so it was only natural for us to find everyone we wanted to work with for our wedding through social media. I had been virtually stalking every vendor I was interested in on Instagram before we were even engaged, and as Adam likes to explain it, the second I had a ring on my finger, pre-drafted emails were out the door to all of them. The first vendor we went after, who I believe to be the most important and vital piece in our collection, was Hallie Slade from LB Event Planning + Design. I had been stalking her for quite some time and became a huge fan of her work after seeing post after post of her creativity - especially when it came to utilizing large spaces. It wasn't until I met her that I realized I had really hit the jackpot. I knew this girl was going to be talented but could never have predicted that she would create a space for me to relax, release the "control freak" reins I so loved to grip on to and trust her. After only one meeting at her gorgeous studio, I knew that I could "Let Go and Let Hallie."

Thanks so much to Wild Whim Photography for the gorge photos below!

First Dance: You Make My Dreams Come True

The escort display, along with the free standing walls, which were a combination of puns (another favorite of Adam's) and tapestries I purchased from Society6 (we have the prints hanging in our apartment and Hallie and I both obsessed over them), was a great example of the benefit to hiring teams that have worked together before. Everyone took part in adding their own style and talent into each piece and it helped make the space flow effortlessly. The ease of having confidence in everyone working on the event allowed for so many opportunities to make the reception unique and reflect our personalities and life together.

After our ceremony my husband and I had a few moments together to enjoy being officially man and wife. Hallie Slade, our planner, asked if we wanted to see the reception area since it was hidden from us all day. Seeing our reception area for the first time together was absolutely incredible. It was like a dream come true. My husband didn't really know much of what our wedding day was going to look like. He knew he could trust my style and judgment as well as Hallie and her team of vendors. So to see him stunned by how awesome it looked was so fun for me too! It was also lovely for us to just enjoy a few minutes alone in the beautiful setting amongst hundreds of hanging plants and just live in that moment. This also gave us the opportunity to see all the details and beauty before we were bombarded by commotion and showered with love and congratulations. Seeing your visions come to life and your Pinterest boards actualize was incredible.

Even our dance floor incorporated the leaves and sketch of our dog, Sawyer, that was designed for our invitations which was created by one of my dear friends, Cheryl Humphreys from Arms Studio.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Although I had a vision of what I wanted my wedding to look like, I really put trust in my Wedding Producer/Planner Hallie Slade. She totally embraced my boho-natural vibes. Hallie and the vendors just rocked it! I knew that if I planned every single detail that I would be upset if it wasn't just perfect or just how I imagined. Therefore, if you can just let go of having everything be perfect you will be amazed at how stunning your wedding will turn out. I remembered when I was deciding between a dusted/lightly frosted wedding cake or a layered naked cake, I turned to Hallie and said "you choose." I knew I loved them both and that either way I would be happy. So a little surprise was fun to have!

Second piece of advice...hire a party planner or coordinator! Honestly, if it weren't for Hallie at LB Events and her awesome team, our special day wouldn't have been as beautiful, fun, smoothless and enjoyable. Having people coordinate moving guests from cocktails to the reception or timing of the meals are details you don't want to be burdened with on your special day. Having a planner is especially important when you are at a location like Hummingbird Nest Ranch where you have to coordinate a lot of vendors and bring in almost everything including an entire kitchen. It is such a stress relief to have it taken care of for you not to mention feeling like a princess for the day!
