Wedding Dress Trends from Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2016

via

We had such an amazing time in Barcelona last week, attending the runway shows for Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week! As to be expected, the dresses were stunning and completely blew us away! And we noticed a few amazing trends that we think will be really popular in bridal fashion throughout this year and into the next. Today, we're giving you a look at the trends firsthand and we'd love to know more about which trends you're loving and can see yourself wearing! But before we get right into the prettiness, we can't forget to thank the Grand Hotel Central (perfectly situated between the Gothic district and el Born in Barcelona) for being our home away from home for the week. This hotel has a sleek, modern vibe and (seriously) the coolest rooftop infinity pool ever. It would be such a great place to relax on your Barcelona honeymoon or enjoy during any getaway. (We're kind of missing it already!)

Okay, okay. Enough of our small talk. We know you're excited to see the dresses, so let's get right to the eye candy and check out the top trends from the runway this year!

The first thing we noticed (when ooing and awwing over the stunning gowns) was how popular intricate appliques were this year. Last year we saw this trend emerge, with pretty floral applique details gracing several of the designers' works of art. This year, the trend only became more noticeable and the appliques really gave the dresses a layered, 3-dimensional feel. Super romantic, floaty + dreamy...

We were so excited to see the 70s inspired vibe YolanCris brought to the runway! We're positive this trend will continue to be strong throughout the year and that we'll see other creative and emerging designers give us their take on the 1970s as well. So fun + bohemian and perfect for the bride who wants something a little bit different!

Something we thought was really gorgeous this year was the pairing of lace + tulle together. We saw a lot of lace bodices paired with full tulle skirts and the result was a dress that is equal parts ethereal and romantic.

{And one more from Marco & Maria because it's just so gorgeous!}

We are always fans of wedding dresses with a subtle hue and this year we were glad to see a few designers show dresses in shades of peach, blush, nude, gray and even pale blue. We feel these tones are super flattering on almost every skin shade, and they give brides a fashion-forward and unique look that we can't help but love!

Last year we noticed the gaining popularity of bridal capes and we were so excited to see them back again this year! Capes lend such a dramatic, enchanting vibe to a wedding dress and we couldn't get enough of the floaty feel to this year's cape designs. If you're unsure if a cape will be well-received on your big day, let us ease your doubts by telling you how popular they were at this year's show! Practically every time a cape graced the runway, the crowd went wild with clapping and cheers!

Pronovias took the bridal cape to the next level, showcasing more than an a couple stunningly dramatic wedding capes! We love that majorly epic cape in the first shot above and likewise adore the more delicate tulle capes paired with pretty lace.

We weren't expecting to come to Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week and fall in love with any bridesmaid looks, but that we did thanks to Cymbeline + Marco & Maria! How pretty are these pastel hues (and that flowy black gown)? We think these looks are so perfect for 2016 and 17 bridesmaids!

So, what do you think? Which trend was your absolute fave? We seriously can't pick, as each almost felt better than the last as it glided down the runway last week! We have to say, there are some pretty lucky brides-to-be out there who get to wear any of these absolutely amazing dresses or partake in any of these super gorgeous trends!
