Take Me to the Moon: Styled Wedding in Croatia | Fly Away Bride

via

This unique styled wedding took place on the exquisite island of Pag in Croatia. Croatia is one of the most popular countries in Europe for holidays; and it has also become a common location for many destination weddings. The country is full of picturesque and romantic places, both on the Adriatic coast and inland. The idea behind this wedding shoot was to focus on the culture, history and traditions of Pag Island. Vendors involved were inspired by the uniqueness of the moon-like surface pf this island. The location was the romantic and peaceful gardens of the Boškinac Hotel and Winery.

LOCATION

"Pag is Croatia's most unusual island. It is very dry and barren - a moonlike landscape, offering a vibrant culture, stunning beaches, ancient mythical Olive groves, millennia old salt production, rich vineyards and world-renowned sheep cheese. The venue, Boškinac Hotel & Winery, is a fairy tale like setting, located in the old town of Novalja. The vineyards here have been cultivated for generations with a peaceful, fragrant ambience full of pine trees, sage, jasmine, mint and olive trees. Located on a hill near traditional karst sheep pasture fields, its design is reminiscent of the island's original heritage. Romantic balconies and terraces offer spectacular views over the Novalja plain. We really wanted to embrace the true history and culture of this unique island. As such, we took our couple to some unusual but meaningful locations that represent the living of this region. Olive harvest and cultivation is a part of the culture of Pag, so we decided to took our shoot to centuries-old olive groves and the small town of Lun. We managed to find the oldest olive tree on the island: experts have suggested that this tree is some 1600 years old. The Lun olive groves are truly one of the most scenic and beautiful locations on the island. While exploring the island you will spot many sheep gazing freely. For centuries the inhabitants of Pag had their own dry stone huts in which they used to milk the sheep and make the world famous Pag cheese. The story would not be complete without capturing the romance of this couple as they walked along the beautiful rocky beach of Ručica. The beach is protected and secluded by rocky mountains and lapped by the breathtaking turquoise sea. To conclude the shoot we captured shots near the ancient ruins of a small fortress on the very tip of Pag Island, which has been standing since the Middle Ages. The ruins are located near the Pag Bridge, connecting the Island to the mainland.

Nikola Smernić is an award-winning photographer who really captured the magic of this wedding shoot. Nikola is not only talented, but a true professional, and has travelled the world capturing the love of hundreds and hundreds of couples. Our talented hair stylist Jelena from Frizerski Salon Jelena in Novalja created a half up, half down hairstyle with sweet loose waves, side sweeping long bangs and adding a waterfall braid to really stand out. The enchanting floral crown was created from baby's breath and olive leaves. Silvija, the lovely make up artist, opted for a photo-friendly foundation. She applied a satin finish foundation to create a glowing bride look. Make up was kept to a minimum, with more of an emphasis on the eyes. She added a few additional lashes to create a something special look, keeping away from anything too extreme or obvious. A pink lipstick made the bride look polished and playful. Our Ivan Alduk gown was enchanting: a romantic lace dress with high illusion neckline and long sleeves. Our floral designer, Daniela of Atelje Artistik, created unique and colourful floral arrangements with inspiring details. Florals included bright burgundy blooms, such as roses, hydrangeas, peonies, protea, wildflowers and plenty of greenery with traditional olive leaves representative of the region. It was a perfect combination for the modern bride. The cake was created by the talented team of Tortica in Zadar. They created a sweet and subtle blush wedding cake with two tiers. The design was simple- pink coating, a pretty pink bow and lining at the base and a beige lace trim. Real flowers were placed on the top and along the cake sides."
