Last week I shared the amazing mascara advice I learned from makeup artist Brigitte Reiss-Andersen-and as promised, here are a few more of her savvy tricks. 1. Concealer should go on before your foundation. You heard that right. "There's a misconception that concealer should go on after foundation to avoid messing up either product's coverage," says Brigitte. "But that's not true of today's formulas, which are sheerer and blend into the skin better than in the past. By putting on your concealer first and then foundation, you don't get that harsh contrast between the two. The concealer peeks through from underneath and looks more natural-not like that old-fashioned, superbright undereye effect." GET THE LOOK WITH: Giorgio Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation. "If this foundation is ever discontinued, I may have to stop working!" says Brigitte. "I carry three bottles of shade No. 6 in my kit at all times-it works on 60 percent of my clients. For pale skin, the No. 2 shade is heaven."
2. Covering dark circles requires a thick concealer. That means a formula that comes in either a pot or a stick, say Brigitte. "A lot of women use a liquid concealer that comes in a wand or tube, but those are usually too sheer to do the job." Use a small, pointy concealer brush to dot on the color-"This will help you apply it only where you truly need it," she says. "You want to cover only the skin that's dark-a big swoop of concealer under your eyes can make them appear smaller or puffy." GET THE LOOK WITH: Maybelline New York Cover Stick Corrector Concealer
3. Colored eye pencil can actually look more sophisticated than brown or black. "Just be sure to choose a dark color rather than anything bright," says Brigitte. "There's a deep emerald green Giorgio Armani pencil that's amazing because it doesn't look like full-on color. If you draw it right in the lash line it defines your eyes, but in a way that's not as obvious as with black liner."
