There is a special kind of magic to Sarah and Joshua's modern Grounds of Alexandria wedding. Sarah and Joshua, who met with friends over New Years Eve celebrations chose a formal church ceremony before relaxing with guests at a cafe reception.

With the most beautiful blend of classic and modern, traditional and offbeat, Sarah and Joshua worked with Gold Hat Photography to capture their day.

The bride chose an elegant gown from Carla Zampatti , remembering, "I never pictured myself in a wedding dress and certainly didn't want a traditional wedding dress. After having breakfast with a friend on a short trip to Canberra I walked passed the Carla Zampatti store and noticed the dress in the window. The next day I woke up and went back to the store with my mum and sister. The dress was perfect, no alterations needed, no long train just simplicity and elegance. ="

The couple were married at The Kings School, remembering, "The King's School was a sentimental venue for Josh as he is an Old Boy of the School. The picturesque grounds allowed for beautiful photos and a magical setting to begin the celebrations. The Chapel itself has a maximum capacity of approximately 300. As such our guest list of 90 was comfortable within the venue, however, a beautiful atmosphere was created within the intimate setting. The Chapel itself is a magical old sandstone building surrounded by stained glass windows."

"The ceremony whilst formal was also short enough to ensure that our guests were focused on the moment and ensured there was no lull in the atmosphere."

Of their photographer, the bride tells, "The photographer was a true professional. At all times he ensured that we were comfortable and relaxed during the process. He then seamlessly moved amongst our guests to capture magical moments through the entire day."

The Grounds of Alexandria was chosen for the reception, Sarah explaining, "The Grounds of Alexandria allowed us to have a relaxed reception. The combination of industrial architecture, naked hardwood tables and brass settings provided the industrial theme. The vast floral displays coupled with hundreds of fairy lights littered around the venue provided a truly elegant setting."

"As we are closet hipsters we decided to create an original seating chart. The chart itself was business sized cards that were hung on a twine line with wooden pegs. The business cards had the names of all guests, below was a scratchie that revealed the table number of the guests. We created the scratchies ourselves."

Of the first dance, Sarah remembers, "We chose "I Will Wait" by - Mumford & Sons. Josh will often be required to travel for work. As such it was an important for song for both of us as it resonates to the thought that regardless of our geographical locations or separations we will always wait for each other."

Congratulations on your marriage Sarah and Joshua, thank you for sharing your story with us! Thank you also to Gold Hat Photography for sharing today's wedding with us!
