Chania Wedding in a Winery, Crete | Fly Away Bride

When Christos proposed to Kelly on the balcony of their holiday villa in Crete in 2015, they wasted no time and began planning a return trip for their destination wedding that very evening. Having found the wonderful team at Crete for Love that night, they put all their trust in their planners to realise their wedding vision and my goodness, did they do just that. A beautiful backyard style Chania wedding in a winery with so many personal touches and photography that has a dreamy, hazy feel to it by Andreas Markakis, this wedding event is a real winner and we are so happy to be able to share with you today!

From the bride,

"Christos and I met on New Year's Eve in 2000 in a bar in London. Fast forward 15 years to his proposal in Chania at our private villa.. the sun was setting, we were drinking sparkling wine on the balcony with our son and it was a complete surprise! We first holidayed on the Island 5 years ago and fell in love with the island, the people, the culture and the glorious sunshine, so we have been back every year since. We wanted to come back to Chania in particular, so we chose to have a destination wedding immediately. We wanted to keep it very rustic with a vintage twist with lots of unique handmade elements. I wanted it to be a very relaxed and non-traditional 'English' wedding day. We wanted our guests to experience something different and I am pleased to say ourselves and Crete for Love achieved this!To keep the wedding personal and in line with our vision, we sourced and provided most of our favours, my bouquet and our fingerprint tree. It was slightly cheaper to do this and everything was very personalised to us and our guests. I choose to have a silk flower bouquet, by doing this, I got to have my favourite flower, as it was out of season, they didn't have to contend with the heat and I got to keep them as my special memory from the day. For our son, we also had Loukoumades! These are not only very traditional but my son's favourite sweet treat and Crete for Love managed to organise them at short notice. They went down a storm with family who were familiar with them and guests who experienced something new. Some of our favourite details included our naked wedding cake. This was served as our main dessert with no left overs, it was delicious! My husband found Crete for Love the night we got engaged. We loved their site and previous wedding portfolios. I created some mood boards which I then send to Crete for Love and they pretty much met all our visual requirements and rarely said no to our suggestions. Because of them, they made our vision become a reality and the planning was so easy. I'd highly recommend booking a wedding planner that you trust, it makes everything so much more enjoyable."
