After saying "Heck yeah, WE DO!" at a church in the center of Helsinki, Hanna + Tommi and all their friends and family paraded through the streets. The newlyweds led their guests (who were all singing, cheering + playing instruments along the way) to the market square dock, and from there they continued to Suomenlinna Island, by ferry, for one epic party. The duo wanted a traditional church ceremony, but then one fun + laid-back reception with lots of great music, dancing + scrumptious food, and planner Michaela of Hey Look made just that happen!

Playing up the couple's love for indie rock music + artistic glamour, the reception space was decked out with dark linens, berry-hued florals, golden candles and vintage heirlooms. They had a whiskey + bourbon lounge, a table overflowing with desserts + cheeses, and a party that just didn't stop. You'd never guess that their was a huge thunderstorm going on outside! The bride, Hannah, shares When we first started planning, we knew we wanted to have something at theSuomenlinna Sea Fortress, as we used to live and work there, so it's very near and dear to our hearts. We envisioned something bohemian and chic, yet quirky - much like ourselves and the Hey Look team made that come true! My mom was horrified of when she first heard we were going to use black linens (the word 'funeral' was definitely mentioned), but then everyone (including mom) fell in love with them.

I think for me [Hannah], it was walking down the aisle, biting my lip to prevent ugly crying out of pure happiness. And then of course the amazing love parade to the ferry and party venue, with all our friends playing instruments and singing together. They played the whole journey (about an hour)! Not only did I have the privilege of marrying my best friend in the world, but we were lucky enough to be surrounded by incredible, fun, talented and crazy amazing human beings.

How much fun is this?!

Hey Look crafted those gorgeous florals!

Hannah is absolutely breathtaking in her gown from Pronovias.

These incredibly beautiful + powerful portraits were taken by the sea, just moments before the storm clouds rolled in.

So epic!

What a spread!! The couple's friends + families brought in all sorts of yummy goodies, while the cake was provided by Patisserie Teemu & Markus.

The dark linen is such a striking addition to the room and creates nice contrast. Don't you think?

You probably won't be able to stick to your initial budget (we didn't), but don't worry, you won't regret a second of it - it's worth it! If you're making the food yourselves (or your family + friends are), calculate HALF or 2/3 of how much you think everyone eats. It hurts to throw food away. Also, a lot of people have opinions when it comes to weddings, budgets, and planning and everything included, but there's no point in making things harder than they are. It all goes so fast, it's mind-boggling.

Additionally - working the night before your wedding, is not a good idea. Taking a bubble bath full of rose petals and having a glass of Champagne, is a very good idea. Take it easy on the week of your wedding, and truly appreciate every moment!
