Emily and Ryan had been together for 10 years when they got engaged. "It was spontaneous: we were out for dinner and we just decided to pick a date and go with it. We don't have a traditional engagement story and in fact there wasn't even a ring, but this is more our style!" Emily says.

For their wedding, the couple chose a laid-back event with tons of DIY elements, which Emily's parents worked tirelessly to bring together. "They finessed so many small but significant details, from handwriting everyone's names on Mason jar mugs to creating all the napkins and table runners, and crafting beautiful floral wreaths to hang in the tent above the dance floor. All of their hard work paid off as the tent and property looked incredible," Emily says.

Decor aside, the music was one of the most important elements of the celebration. "Music was a big part of the day as it's super important to both of us. Our DJs, Anna and Bobby, absolutely killed the music selection and even took a few classic East Coast requests (hello, Rankin Family!)," Emily says. "Rich Aucoin, a close family friend, also performed at our wedding, and seeing him bring everything together was truly a feeling and experience none of the guests will ever forget."

Another favourite moment of the day was the ceremony, a short and sweet affair, which lasted just 10 minutes! "As soon as we had our first kiss and walked out among our friends and family, it really solidified why we got married. Seeing so many lovely faces all there together to celebrate us (including our dog Gertrude who was there for every part of the festivities) was overwhelming and amazing," Emily says.
