Christie had always dreamt of a fairytale wedding and the day she married Timothy was nothing short of magic. Hanging wisteria, bouquets of peonies and lashings of roses created an unforgettable white wedding wonderland.

We first met...

We met at a Greek concert in 2011. My parents insisted that I go with them to this concert although I was not interested. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because that's where I first met Timmy. Ironically, the concert was held at The Greek Club in West End and that's where we ended up having our wedding reception.

We knew it was love...

From the moment I first met Timmy I knew we had that instant spark and connection that would turn into something more. After just a few months of dating I knew this was the man I would spend the rest of my life with.

The proposal...

Timmy proposed to me at the rooftop of my parents unit at the Gold Coast. It was special because it's the place we spent out first New Years Eve when he asked me on our first date.

Wedding Photographer...

Porfyri Photography were our wedding photographers. I knew as soon as we got engaged that I wanted Andrew to photograph our wedding. He always captures those special moments and made us feel so relaxed and at ease and we could just be ourselves when he captured our photos. We had the opportunity to do a pre-wedding photoshoot which was helpful because Andrew got a feel of how Timmy and I interacted together and it was a good practice to be able to see the shots he captured of the two of us. We loved our wedding photos.

Our dream wedding...

I wanted our wedding reception to feel like a fairytale. My colour theme was all white from the hundreds of white roses travelling down our wedding cake, to the white arrangement of flowers on each guest table. We had white wisteria hanging over the bridal table and the dozens of candles along the tables set the romantic feel of the room. I was blown away as soon as I walked into the reception as to how much of a fairytale it looked.

Ceremony location...

Our ceremony was held at the Greek Orthodox Church of St George

Reception venue...

The Greek Club, Brisbane

Pre-wedding celebrations...

We had a couple of greek pre-wedding celebrations. After Timmy proposed my parents held a "logo" night at our house which means "he has asked my hand in marriage". We had all our family over to celebrate and that's where we asked our Bridesmaids, Groomsmen and Maid of Honour and Best Man to be a part of our special day.

Another tradition we had was a "krevati" night which was held a week leading up to our wedding at our new house. Krevati means bed in Greek. All the single ladies go up to the bedroom and make our bed with sheet covers and pillow and doona. The rest of the family then come in and sing traditional Greek songs and they throw money on the bed and then babies to signify good luck in our house and lots of babies in the future!

The bridal party...

We had four bridesmaids, four groomsmen and two flower girls and one Paige boy. Our bridal party consisted of our brothers, cousins and one of my good friends.

The bridesmaids wore...

My bridesmaids wore custom made dresses which were blush in colour with a low plunging neckline and crystal beading on the bodice. The bottom half of the dress was flowy. I selected my fabric from Saigon Fabrics in Sydney. Grace Inspired accessorised them with beautiful earrings and rings.

The groomsmen wore...

Custom tailored suits from Michael Innis Menswear in West End, Brisbane. Grace Inspired also provided them with custom cufflinks which had their initials.

The groom wore...

Custom tailored suit from Michael Innis Menswear. I also surprised him with a bow tie from Costello Menswear (Michael Costello).

The dress...

My wedding gown was designed by George Elsissa from Sydney. It was my dream dress! The level of detailing on this dress is absolutely amazing and the sheer back looks incredible. The train was five metres long and I had it bustled up at the reception so I could dance.

Wedding flowers...

We had peonies which were imported from Holland by Bloomberry Flowers located in Brisbane. They were so beautiful! Even the little flower girls had peony bouquets.

Reception décor...

The wedding reception was styled to suit our fairy-tale theme. We had hanging white wisteria over the bridal table which was accompanied with a white floral runner along the edge of the bridal table. The white backdrop behind the bridal table had crystal beadings hanging in front of it to give it a glittering effect. One big chandelier was hanging in the middle of the dance floor. Each guest table had one big arrangement of white flowers and two small white arrangements. There were hundreds of candles scattered across the room on the tables which added to the romantic feel of the room.

My favourite part was the 5 tier white wedding cake which sat over floating flowers and 300 hundred white roses running down the cake.

We also had a white wisteria wall at the back of the reception where guests could go and have their photo taken.

On the menu...

Sit down three course meal.

Bombonniere...

Each guest received white scented candles with our personalised stamp on it and a small bag of Greek traditional sweets.

Memorable moments...

Sitting back with my husband and taking in the enormity of the day and how blessed we felt to be surrounded by so much love from our family and friends celebrating our special day with us.

Wedding soundtrack...

We played lots of Beyonce!

Future plans...

Timmy wants 7 kids but I'm hoping we stick with 2! Haha! I would love to settle down and have a family in a few years and travel the world with my husband!

In 40 years we hope to...

Be retired on a Greek island enjoying life with Timmy and the kids!

The engagement...

Take in and enjoy every moment of the engagement period. It goes by so quickly and even though there may seem like lots of planning involved, enjoy it and share it with your love ones!

Planning...

Don't get caught up worrying about everything the week of the wedding. Everything will fall into place.

On the day...

Enjoy every minute. It goes by so quickly. We were given a piece of advice from our friends: take a step back during the wedding together and have a look around at everyone. They're all there to celebrate you both!
