Dimitri and Krystal's wedding had a soft, romantic feel with neutral shades, fairy lights, chandeliers, candles and gorgeous florals. The couple's children, 2-year-old Kosta and his little sister Nellie were by far the cutest guests!

We first met...

Dimitri and I met through friends back when I was 16 and he was 21. We were both in relationships at the time and remained mutual friends for the next 5 years. In mid 2012 we both lost someone very dear to us and this brought us closer together. In a time of heartache we were able to find comfort and happiness within each other. By the end of 2012 our friendship blossomed into a relationship where he asked me to be his girlfriend two days after my 22nd birthday (9th of December 2012.) From this moment we knew we were in love and were completely inseparable.

The proposal...

In 2013 we fell pregnant with our now 2 year old son, Kosta. 2014 was a great year for us, our son was born in July 2014 and Dimitri proposed four days after Christmas that year (29th of December 2014). He proposed in front of our Christmas tree with our son dressed in a baby onesie that read "Mummy, will you marry my Daddy." It was very sweet and of course I said yes!

Our wedding photographer...

Ethereal Photography.

I first met Josh at a wedding Fair in 2015. I ended up winning the competition they were running for a free engagement shoot. From there Dimitri, our son Kosta and I got to meet both Josh and Joey from Ethereal along with their gorgeous little girl, Evie who is only born a few days apart from Kosta. We were so happy with how our engagement shoot turned out that we booked our wedding with them straight away.

Along with having them also photograph our second born little girl, Nellie a month before our wedding in a woodland style family shoot in Brisbane.

We use Ethereal for capturing all of our special moments and also have our daughter' christening booked with them for 2017. Not only do we know Josh and Joey as our family photographers we also consider them to be great friends.

Our dream wedding...

I wanted a traditional wedding following Dimitri' family's Greek traditions but also incorporating a soft romantic fairy tale feel with neutral shades, fairy lights, chandeliers, candles and gorgeous florals.

Pre-wedding celebrations...

Our pre wedding celebrations (engagement party) was held in 2015 at the Waterfront Hotel on the Sunshine Coast.

Ceremony location...

Our ceremony was held at the Greek Orthodox Church of St Anna on the Gold Coast.

Reception venue...

We celebrated our reception under the Pavilion Marquee at the Jupiters Hotel & Casino on the Gold Coast.

The bridal party...

We had a wonderful large bridal party, 7 on each side. I had my sister, sister in law and 5 friends. Dimitri had his brother, brother in law, 2 cousins and 3 friends.

The bridesmaids wore...

The girls wore a gorgeous gown from Adoring Dress. It was champagne in colour, sleeveless with a high neck, it had a floral bodice and was floor length. Our beautiful flower girls wore a gorgeous dress from Dollcake Oh-So-Girly.

The groomsmen wore...

The boys wore a dark grey suit, long pants with a waistcoat, long sleeve white button up shirt with a champagne tie. But the main feature was their Adidas superstar all white sneakers which we gifted them all as a thank you. Dimitri has been wearing this style sneaker since he was 14 so we wanted to incorporate that into our look. Our spunky page boys wore the same as the groomsmen with our son Kosta wearing the same as his Daddy, Adidas sneakers and all.

The groom wore...

My handsome Groom wore a sand beige suit, long pants, waist coat, jacket with a white long sleeve button up shirt and a champagne tie, and of course, his all white Adidas Superstar sneakers.

The dress...

I sourced my beautiful gown via Pinterest and absolutely fell in love when I first seen it. Originally I was going to have the gown replicated by a local dress maker but after some research I found the original designer. Amelia Sposa is an Italian designer with exquisite skills! My dress the "Nova" as detailed on their website is a classic silhouette that spreads femininity and generousness. A light skirt makes the whole look luxury and royal. Soft sleeves and a transparent back embroidered by lace. I felt like a princess in this dress and could not fault it.

Wedding flowers...

For my choice of flowers with my bouquet I chose to keep it simple with an assortment of roses and babies breath to not take too much detail away from my dress.

Reception décor...

Our reception venue was in a marquee positioned amongst lush tropical gardens with a custom designed feature driveway. The ceiling and walls were decorated with white chiffon drapes and fairy lights. Three gorgeous chandeliers were positioned through the centre of the room giving the room a very romantic feel. The tables and chairs were dressed with white chiffon and champagne sashes. Our centrepieces were a mixture of white, ivory and champagne roses and babies breath in a gold vase. Across the table were tea light candles to set the mood. The bridal table had an array of roses, babies breath, greenery and candles spread across the entire table. We had our initials displayed with a bright light projected on to our dance floor.

Our cake was made by the lovely Sweet Sister Cakes. Our bouquet florals were from Rosita Flowers and our reception florals were organised through Dreamweavers who also decorated our entire reception venue.

On the menu...

We had pre dinner drinks and canapés on the pavilion lawn which included -

  • Bruschetta of Roma tomato, sun-dried tomato & Persian feta.
  • Mediterranean grilled vegetable cornets (v)

Hot:

  • Chicken satay skewers.
  • Moroccan lamb koftas served with yoghurt lime dipping sauce.

For dinner we had a sit down meal with a buffet which included -

Salads:

  • Grilled chicken Caesar
  • Tomato and cucumber salad with basil oil
  • Fried haloumi cheese and dolmades platters

Mains:

  • Chicken cacciatore with parmesan polenta.
  • Roast lamb leg with red wine gravy.
  • Barramundi sauce albufera (tomato Napoli with foie gras mousse folded into it).

Sides:

  • Roasted kipfler potatoes with lemon zest, garlic and oregano.
  • Seasonal steamed vegetables basil pesto cream on the side.
  • Cheesy risotto.
Bomboniere...

For our bomboniere we had Jasmine scented palm wax candles in a glass jar with personalised wooden tags saying "Thank you, with our name' and wedding date". We also attached with tweed rope and wrapped in tulle 5 sugared almonds which is a Greek tradition and represents: Health, Wealth, Happiness, Prosperity and Long Life.

Memorable moments...

Dimitri wrote me a letter the night before our wedding to wake up to on the Hotel note pad and got it taken to the Hotel reception for my sister to collect which I thought was super sweet. Another memorable moment was being surprised by one of Dimitri' brothers that unfortunately could not make our wedding with a speech over the speakers through a phone connection.

Wedding soundtrack...

For our music and MC we had the very well known DJ Kossi and Bico Athanasas.

In the beginning of the night we had Kossi play some dinner style music in a 2 piece with a bouzouki (a Greek form of the mandolin) player, Nick Paras who sings also, who has spent nearly 10 years in Greece playing with some of the biggest names.

For our first dance we chose Aerosmith- I don't want to miss a thing.

The honeymoon...

For our honeymoon we have booked Europe for the summer July 2017. Greece-Italy-Croatia.

Future plans...

In 40 years we hope to...

The engagement...

Tips on how to enjoy your engagement would be to take your time and work together on weddings plans.

The planning process...

Be organised and do your research, create mood boards and make use of social media and websites for inspiration.

On the day...

On your wedding day, take it as it comes, let it all unfold and enjoy it. Soak it in, take a moment to have alone together and take in that you are now married!
