Victoria and Evan currently reside in California but their roots and hearts are in Texas. Their wedding day at Camp Lucy, a sprawling 275 acre ranch hosts several stunning ceremony sites, but the couple chose to exchange vows under the canopy of ancient live oaks, aptly named Sacred Oaks. These trees, which are native to Texas, had a wide spreading canopy with limbs reaching all the way to the ground. The dense greenery was the perfect backdrop for Victoria's deep red color scheme. Planner Tara Blackwell played up the stunning palette beautifully adding pinks and crimson in the show-stopping floral creations by Floral Affairs Unlimited. The arbor is a a sight to behold with so many roses we literally CAN NOT get over it! Lucky for us, Jenny McCann worked her photo-genius behind the lens capturing every stunning detail. Enjoy!

What made the wedding special and unique?

The ceremony under the beautiful oak trees. Evan's cousin put together a special touching ceremony serving as officiant!

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I had looked on Pinterest at dresses and knew what I liked, but the dresses I was pinning ended up being way over my budget. I thought I wasn't going to get the dress of my dreams, but then I found it! The designer is Alon Livne. I bought it at Mia Bridal in Houston. It was my second trip to try on wedding dresses and I knew it was the one right away!

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

We displayed bridal portraits and our engagement photos around the reception area. Our guest favors were Texas and Canada themed cookies cutters because Victoria is from Texas and Evan is from Canada/Texas. The maid of honor's mother, who has known Victoria since she was 3, put extra effort in all the floral arrangement and the results blew everyone away. Also having Evan's cousin officiate the ceremony made the ceremony so special.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

We met in college. We were both studying chemical engineering at the University of Texas in Austin. We didn't date in college, even though we caught each other's eye. After a brief year apart, we reconnected in Houston, where our earlier friendship turned into more. Then followed the two best years of our life, which saw our family grow four strong (us, plus our cat Dumbledore and dog Gandalf). Our engagement was such a surprise for Victoria, as Evan leveraged Victoria's friends to plan a fake night out, only to be surprised with an engagement at Houston's Hermann park. Photo evidence proved Victoria was completely caught off guard.

Victoria and Evan currently reside in California but their roots and hearts are in Texas. For Victoria especially, it was really about these special trees and I tried to incorporate them in as many details and portraits as possible. They could not have chosen a more perfect setting to represent their love of nature and the Texas Hill country.
