Ol' Ball And Chain

My biggest fear in marriage is not that it would fail, but that it would become stagnant and mundane. I fear my wife being a burden, or me being one to her. Predictable. Restrictive. A barrier to my own personal goals, as well as ours. Marriage does not have to suck. Anyone can get divorced and just give up. That’s the easy way out. But from all the weddings I do where they ask that elderly couple, “what is the key to a long, successful marriage” it’s always a combination of the Three C’s: Communication Compassion Compromise Don’t settle for being the ‘ol Ball ‘n Chain.
