Omg, That's So Cliche!

You people are ruthless. God forbid I post a wedding photo that ANYone has ever done before. A pose. A location. A kiss in front of a fountain. “Oh, I’ve seen that done before… I want something unique… “ “Yeah, every wedding photographer does that shot…” It’s so cutthroat out there that if anyone posts a “commonly done wedding photo” they get blasted, “Oh, EVERY wedding photographer does that shot… “ Well what people don’t realize is that those “typical” or “trendy” or “cliche” wedding shots work for a reason. AND, the particular wedding couple getting married obviously doesn’t have any shots like that because they just got married. So it’s the pride between wedding photographers to strive to be unique. But I also see it from brides who commonly say, “I want unique photos; something original”. So when I suggest they host their wedding in the auto parts section of a Walmart, wear camouflage, and then have a food fight instead of a cake cutting, they realize that there are particular aspects to a wedding they want, but they want to make it unique. Guess what, the unique part of the photos is that YOU are in it. Then the prideful bride wants her friends to be envious of her unique wedding photos, which other wedding photographers will try to imitate. And that’s where the photographer has to suggest things which might be a little strange or bizarre. By the way, I’m photographing a wedding on the moon this weekend, and everyone is wearing Borat mankinis. I’ll try to be unique.
