Lorraine's Wedding

The day did not start well yesterday when I arrived at Chesford Grange Hotel in Kenilworth. I had taken the cake in 4 seperate boxes (bottom 2 tiers already together). The venue are hosting some of the olympic team there so the hotel had to have a lot of security in place. Before I could go through to reception I had to walk through a metal detector and was told that all of my belongings and the cake ! had to go through the scanning machine (like in an airport) ! I was horrified at this and as soon as my back was turned they started putting the big box with the bottom 2 tiers through the scanner. The big black rubber flaps from the machine smacked down onto the 4th tier and left dents and black marks all over it ! I could have cried ! they were very apologetic but the damage had already been done. Luckily I had made about an extra 10 rose petals and managed to cover up most of the damage. They said they couldnt hand scan the cakes because I could have been hiding explosives inside of them.
