They Lit Up The Cross
Normally I’m the one that tells my clients where we’re going to do our shoot. They’re hiring me based on previous experience, which is usually a result of me having some control over location, time, wardrobe, etc. (weddings are the exception). So when this young family said they wanted engagement/family photos taken around the Ventura County area, I offered up a few places (Paramount Ranch, Canada Larga Road, Ventura Beach, and some other spots I won’t tell you about). So when they insisted “The Cross”, my initial thought was NOOOOOOOOO!!! Yes, it’s a nice view of the city, but incorporating that into a photo with people in it is a different story. Plus, they had a 1 and 2yo to bring with them so… getting some individual shots alone was going to be a challenge. And it was. Even without any clouds I was able to include the Cross along with them using some off-camera lighting. I love it when a plan comes together. I also love a good challenge.
