Niekija is a Sami Goddess, the lovely daughter of the Moon with silver hair. When Beaivvas sent his son Peivalke to woo Her, Peivalke himself fell for Her. When the Moon concealed Her on an island, She was seen by Nainnas, leader of the Northern Lights, who also fell for Her, and She for Him. But She remained with her Mother the Moon, and the lovers look at each other across the night sky.
