BEAUTIFUL DESTINATIONS

Ever wondered what causes this wonderful light show on Earth's northern and southern hemispheres? Beautiful Destinations Founder @jeremyjauncey went exploring Finland to find out! The 'Aurora borealis' and 'Aurora Australis,' result from the collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth's atmosphere and react with its gases. The most common light colour that is produced is yellow and green, but colours actually vary depending on the type of gas that is colliding. Typically, particles that collide with oxygen produce yellow and green, while interactions with nitrogen produce red, violet, and occasionally blue lights.Though they appear very unpredictably, the Aurora Borealis can be seen in countries located near the north pole region such as Alaska, Denmark, Scotland, Canada, Greenland, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Russia, while Aurora Australis can be witnessed in Australia, New Zealand, Chile, and Antarctica.
