Wedding - Kat Williams

Kat Williams

So, you’re scrolling Instagram, casually stalking your internet BFFs, and suddenly your confronted with yet another paid partnership, another ad or another gifted post. UGH, eye roll, look at them getting all that shit for free, ‘selling out’ by taking payment to sell me stuff I don’t need... right? But here’s the thing: As someone who pours her heart and soul into her business (and her Instagram page) I am extremely protective of my brand and how my feed looks, so I’m hella picky about the brands and businesses that I partner with or promote. I truly believe that the things I share, regardless of whether its paid, gifted, or a profit share collaboration are products or services that I think you'd like to hear about. The fact of the matter is that in order to do what I do, in order to share SO MUCH FREE CONTENT every single day, mama’s also gotta get paid so she can eat and pay her mortgage! Luckily for me I can do that by sharing things that I think you’re really going to love. I personally feel the new CMA guidelines for influencers to declare everything so clearly are a good thing (if not still a bit confusing!) but I do worry if the influx of so many more posts now having to be declared as an ad will be off-putting to our followers. What do you think? But anyway, I guess what I want to say is next time you see an ad or paid partnership from an influencer you love, instead of just scrolling on by, why not take a moment to give it a read a double tap? It takes you seconds and not only may you discover a new business, product or brand that you’ll love, but it helps that influencer too. If you like their free content then surely their paid content is worth a moment of your time as well? Plus it’s a nice way to thank them for sharing their lives with you online. And that's the end of my Ted Talk. Photo by @lisajanephoto Veil from my new veil collection with @crownandglory_ which drops this Thursday!
