Dear Lucia at 11, I know you might be feeling uncomfortable when making new friends. You probably feel nervous and afraid that no one really understands the things you’re into or why certain things inspire you. Especially since you’ve been fun of for being different. But it gets better I promise. __ It’s not weird that you spent your summer drawing fonts and practicing calligraphy. It’s not crazy that you pretended to be a teacher and your classroom were all your stuffed animals. It’s not childish you created your own language and pretended you were a dectective. It’s not strange that you collected flowers everywhere you went and dried them in your favorite books. It’s not crazy that you choreographed a dance routine and performed it in your front yard, to an audience of one. __ Keep exploring, be adventurous, creative and stay courageous. You’ll have the best of friends, find an incredible husband, and build a business tribe out of all the things that makes you, you. Just be you and don’t ever be shy or ashamed of it.
